Publisher Ubisoft has stated that the second year of post-launch support for Assassin's Creed Valhalla will surprise the game's fans. The most recent installment in the long-running franchise, Assassin's Creed Valhalla takes the historical fiction series to the Viking expansion into British territory. The open-world title allows players to step into the role of the warrior Eivor as they fight to find, and then defend, a home for their people.

Since its release in November 2020, Ubisoft has continued to support Assassin's Creed Valhalla through the release of updates and downloadable content. Assassin's Creed's upcoming Seige of Paris DLC was detailed at E3 2021, giving players a deeper look into the future of the Viking adventure. E3's Ubisoft Forward broadcast revealed that the Siege of Paris will release this summer, and the expansion will include a ton of new features. The DLC's story will take place in 885 and will focus on Charles III, the first sole monarch of France in centuries. Protagonist Eivor will be forced to avoid conflict with the powerful kingdom in order to protect their people. Ubisoft Forward also announced a slew of additional content coming to Valhalla such as one-handed swords, an educational Discovery Tour mode, and a second year of post-launch support. A one-handed sword update is coming to Assassin's Creed: Valhalla soon, and fans are eager to see what else Ubisoft has in store for the playerbase.

A report from Video Games Chronicle reveals that the second year of downloadable support for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will be quite surprising. The news comes from a recent Ubisoft earning call, during which the company's leaders discuss the past and future of its various franchises. Chief Financial Officer Frédérick Duguet repeatedly referred to Valhalla's second year of content as surprising and ambitious, suggesting that something special will be coming to the game in the future.

While additional content will be coming to Assassin's Creed Valhalla for some time, even bigger things are being planned for the franchise's future. Recent leaks have now led to the vague announcement of Assassin's Creed Infinity, a live-service game that will see multiple different time periods added throughout the game's life. Ubisoft has confirmed that the next game in the series will adopt a live-service model, allowing multiple installments to maintain cohesion by existing under one single game.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been praised by both critics and series fans, so expanding on that well-received base is a smart move for Ubisoft. Players will be able to continue their Viking adventures through future expansions and updates, and it seems like the developers have something particularly special planned for the second year of Valhalla content.
