Assassin's Creed Valhalla's most ridiculous and surprisingly common glitch so far is one that that makes children bigger than adults, and its definitely not a natural case of growing up (not even for young Vikings). The latest Assassin's Creed was one of the most anticipated titles to come out with the new generation of consoles. Although the game has received praise for its story gameplay improvements, it still has more than a few bugs to squash in true Ubisoft fashion.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a huge open-world game centered around the Viking age, and tells a story of the Vikings invading England, so players have a chance to explore an extensive recreation of Viking settlements in Norway, and get to travel to various fictional places in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms like Wessex and Mercia, as well as roam the real cities of York, London and Winchester. All the fictional locations were inspired by real-life places, and the game captures some of these breathtaking landscapes beautifully. The player is also able to visit the mythological realm of Asgard where the Norse gods live, allowing the player to interact with their character's deities in the same way Assassin's Creed games since Origins have opened up the realms of their respective mythologies for the players to explore. Of course there is also the modern day story to experience when players step out of the Animus to have a chat with some of their colleagues, so there is no lack of environments to delve into.
With such a big world for players to discover, there are bound to be some missed bugs that players pick up on, and Kirk McKeand tweeted about an amusingly unsettling glitch that he found on his playthrough of the game. As Editor-In-Chief of sister site The Gamer, McKeand has probably seen his fair share of game glitches, but in his tweet even he admits that this one is terrifying. This bug makes children look gigantic, possibly even bigger than the player's hefty Viking character. In the comments on McKeand's post, several people wrote that they also had experienced the same bug, in the same place, and even during the same quest.
Although unnerving to see, this is not the worst bug that has been found in the Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Another glitch seems to be an entirely broken quest that prevents the story from progressing any further, and this is a quest fairly early on in the story. Apparently the glitch is caused by the recent 1.0.2 patch, so going back to an earlier version of the game helps. This game-breaking glitch has forced players to uninstall the game and reinstall it without an internet connection, play the mission, and once they've finished, then they can update the game to the most recent version. Unfortunately the fix can only be performed with the physical copy of the game, those who have the digital version can't turn back to an earlier patch.
With so many people experiencing this bug, hopefully Ubisoft will notice and release a fix for it, as it is rather harrowing to have a child towering over players' pretty bulky Viking, whether they chose the female or the male Eivor. However, perhaps Ubisoft should first address the glitch that completely cripples Assassin's Creed Valhalla's story.
