Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Vahalla should be keeping players busy for dozens and dozens of hours, but the studio also has plans to keep players raiding for months to come. At least four seasons of post-launch content are in the work, with the first dropping surprisingly soon.

The latest entry in the franchise, Assassin's Creed Valhalla tries to bridge two different style of Assassin's Creed games. It still embraces the open-world gameplay of the last two Assassin's Creed games, with a sprawling map, plenty of side quests, and a focus on Viking combat. But Assassin's Creed Valhalla has also brought back some mechanics that haven't been seen since Assassin's Creed Syndicate, including social stealth and the option to turn the Hidden Blade into an instant-kill weapon again. The approach has been fairly well-received, and Ubisoft looks to have another hit on its hands.

Ubisoft has detailed out its plans for Assassin's Creed Valhalla's post-launch content, which includes both free and paid DLC. The first "season" of content will arrive in December 2020, though the specific date has not been announced. The Season will bring the Viking Yule Festival to players' settlements as an in-game event, as well as offering players a new settlement area. It will also bring new weapons, abilities, cosmetics and more. A new game mode called River Raids will be added as well, which promises to add more challenging features to the raiding mechanics already built into Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Lastly, Ubisoft has announced they will be enhancing the Jomsviking mechanic by allowing them to level up the Viking they create to loan to other players. The higher the level, the more silver the Jomsviking will earn for its owner.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC Release Roadmap

Assassins Creed Valhalla DLC

Ubisoft will continue to add weapons, cosmetics, festivals, and more for free to Assassin's Creed Valhalla in the coming months, with Season 2 content aiming for a March 2021 release date. Spring 2021 will also see the release of Wrath of the Druids, the first of two announced paid DLC releases planned as part of Assassin Creed Valhalla's season pass. Wrath of the Druids will send players to Ireland, while the second paid DLC expansion, The Siege of Paris, will send players to France and be released in Summer 2021, alongside the free Season 3 content. And although it was not mentioned in Ubisoft's announcement, the graphic displaying Ubisoft's plans for Assassin Creed Valhalla's future did include a Season 4 of free content for Fall 2021.

Ubisoft has impressively robust plans for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The studio has already announced that they are working on a Discovery Tour update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla to release in 2021. If it follows the model of the previous two games, Discovery Tour will be a free update for those who already own the game, and a standalone experience that can be purchased by those who want to roam the lands and explore without any combat. Whether a player prefers exploration, story, or combat, Assassin's Creed Valhalla appears to have something for everyone in its post-launch content plans.
