As part of a continuing trend in the action-adventure series, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a huge game. There are multiple maps to explore with potentially over a hundred hours of content. Even the main quest itself is long and branching, with plenty of room to explore between acts. Thanks to post-launch DLC and free seasonal content, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is getting even bigger. Last October, before the game even came out, Ubisoft announced its upcoming plans for post-launch support, which included the two major Valhalla DLC expansions, and some smaller, more regular content updates.

Even single-player games are increasingly moving toward games-as-a-service territory, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla is no exception. Players who opted into the season pass early had access to a bonus mission called The Legend of Beowulf, based on the Old English epic. Since then, Valhalla has proceeded with its promised free content updates. Players had a chance to celebrate the seasons in-game with the Yule Festival last winter and the Ostara Festival earlier this spring, and Ubisoft has also brought the new River Raids game mode and some updates to the Jomsviking mechanics.

The first major expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Wrath of the Druids, was supposed to come out on April 27, but has been delayed by two weeks to May 13. The first expansion will see Eivor travel to Ireland and confront a druidic cult known as the Children of Danu. This spring will also bring a game mode called Mastery Challenge to Valhalla, where Eivor hones their combat skills with a master warrior that has come to Ravensthorpe.

Valhalla's DLC Roadmap for Summer 2021 and Beyond

post launch dlc roadmap

The biggest milestone on Valhalla's DLC roadmap after this spring is the second story expansion, The Siege of Paris. Players will sail for Francia, invade ancient Paris, and attempt to topple the kingdom of Charles the Fat. No exact release date has been given for The Siege of Paris, only that it is coming in summer 2021. Ubisoft is most likely looking to stick to the roadmap as closely as possible, but the delay of Wrath of the Druids may mean it will be later in summer when Assassin's Creed players are able to cross the English Channel.

Regular content updates have been promised to come to Assassin's Creed Valhalla throughout the summer, but Ubisoft may not be done delivering content for the game just yet. Rumors surrounding a third expansion for Valhalla have been circulating - a possible alternative to another Assassin's Creed title being released in 2021. Although typically an annual affair, Valhalla had an extra year after Odyssey's release in 2018. The plethora of delays throughout the gaming industry has seemingly kept a lot of developers quiet on things to come until more certain announcements can be made. Fans can probably expect news on the franchise soon, since Ubisoft will be at E3 2021, and that will more than likely include more details on the future of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's post-launch support.
