Assassin's Creed Valhalla's upcoming DLC expansion is likely Evior's last major adventure. Ubisoft revealed the Dawn of Ragnarök DLC earlier this week, but it isn't available until later in 2022. Until then, players can get ready for the big event by completing the other expansions and world events around medieval England.

Like the past two Assassin's Creed games, Valhalla had two big initial expansions announced in the post-launch plans: Wrath of The Druids and The Siege of Paris. March 10 marks the release date for the third, Dawn of Ragnarök, which AC Valhalla didn't include in its post-launch plans. Hints of its arrival with in-game events came up recently, but there weren't any certainties - until now. The expansion brings in new elements that aren't a part of the base game, giving it a different feel for what's currently to offer; additionally, the $40 price comes with Valhalla pre-order bonuses. However, the DLC is coming later than usual for an Assassin's Creed game, and it likely has a deeper meaning.

Ubisoft's recent developments with Assassin's Creed Valhalla points toward the possibility that Dawn of Ragnarök is the game's finale. Title update 1.4.1 patch is setting the stage for the expansion's debut. Also, it's hard to ignore the DLC's title including, "Ragnarok," as a mere coincidence.

Dawn Of Ragnarok May Be The Grand Finale For AC Valhalla

On December 14 - the same day as Dawn of Ragnarök's announcement - title update 1.4.1 was added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft labeled the patch as an update that would fix many issues and lead to an overall better experience, requiring users to reinstall AC Valhalla before playing again. Patch notes indicate that it drastically shrinks the game's size on all platforms, probably to make room for Dawn of Ragnarök's thirty-five additional hours of content. It's unusual for a game to add such a large addition after being out for nearly two years. It seems that Assassin's Creed Valhalla is gearing up for its grand finale with this March expansion, and title update 1.4.1 has prepared the way. However, there's more symbolism at the heart of the DLC's announcement.

In Norse mythology, the events of Ragnarök only come as the world was ending and the final battles take place. In most tales, Odin fights Loki's son, Fenrir, and gets swallowed up. In Dawn of Ragnarök, Evior plays the role of Odin, as in the Asgard myth questline. Logically, it would follow that this is the end of Evior's journey, just as it might be Kratos' end in God of War Ragnarök. Ubisoft could release more historically-based DLC after, but that's likely not the case due to the size and build-up of this one.

About every two years, Ubisoft releases a new AC game, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla will enter that period in 2022. So, it's reasonable to believe the next title in the series has begun development, and teaser trailers could come out sometime next year. Dawn of Ragnarök will give players enough time to remain engaged until the next one arrives. Information regarding future productions at Ubisoft already leaked, but it doesn't indicate anything about a new game in development because the dev team wouldn't want that kind of news getting out too soon. AC Infinity, a live service platform, is the only confirmed production thus far. However, as 2022 progress, that will probably change.
