In celebration of the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event, Edward Kenway's pirate outfit from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has been added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla in a free update. The open-world franchise has brought players to a variety of different time periods, from the Golden Age of Piracy to the Viking Age and beyond. Last year Ubisoft added an Altair costume to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, paying tribute to the franchise's first protagonist, and now players can set sail on a Viking longship dressed as Edward Kenway. The Assassin's Creed series kicked off with Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, an Assassin operating during the Third Crusade, as its historical protagonist. However, subsequent installments have introduced a colorful lineup of playable characters hailing from many different time periods. Italian nobleman Ezio Auditore starred in his own trilogy, taking place around the Italian Renaissance period, while native Mohawk protagonist Ratonhnhaké:ton journeyed through the American Revolution in Assassin's Creed 3. The memorable pirate-themed installment Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag put players in the shoes of Ratonhnhaké:ton's swashbuckling grandfather Edward Kenway, while the upcoming Basim game Assassin's Creed Mirage will serve as a spinoff for the Assassin's Creed Valhalla antagonist.Related: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Adds Ezio Auditore’s Iconic RobesAn Assassin's Creed Twitter post recently revealed that Edward Kenway's iconic outfit has been added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla ahead of the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event. Players can redeem the outfit now via the UbiConnect service to dress Eivor in the robes of the beloved seafaring Assassin. Edward's outfit joins the iconic robes worn by Altair and Ezio, which were both added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla last year. These cosmetic tributes to protagonists of past titles have become an Assassin's Creed tradition, with many games letting players unlock and equip the outfits of past heroes despite being anachronistic.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Adds Edward's Pirate Apparel

While Ubisoft continues to support Assassin's Creed Valhalla with new content, the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage will allegedly bring the franchise back to basics. Set for an official announcement during Ubisoft Forward on September 10, the game will apparently follow the Assassin's Creed Valhalla character Basim during his early life in Baghdad. Rumors claim that the game will be a return to the franchise's roots by stripping away RPG elements and putting a renewed emphasis on stealthy assassinations.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been supported with a long series of patches and DLC expansions, and Ubisoft continues to add new content to the Viking Age epic. Edward Kenway is one of the franchise's most beloved and memorable protagonists, so adding his nautical outfit to Valhalla is a great way to celebrate Ubisoft Forward. Edward's skin is available now through UbiConnect, though the Assassin's Creed Valhalla cosmetic sadly lacks Edward's arsenal of flintlock pistols.
