At long last, Ubisoft has confirmed its looking into developing a 60fps patch for Assassin's Creed Origins, which launched on PC and consoles in 2017. Set in Ancient Egypt, AC Origins followed Medjay Bayek of Siwa in his journey to root out the corruption responsible for the death of his son. The story, in true Assassin's Creed fashion, boasted myriad twists and turns, ultimately leading to the founding of the Hidden Ones by Bayek's wife, Aya.

Assassin's Creed Origins marks the first entry in what some may call the more modern Assassin's Creed era. It was in this particular installment that Ubisoft began experimenting with the live-service elements that would pervade both Odyssey and Valhalla. Notably, the post-launch AC Origins DLC involved two narrative expansions. The first, The Hidden Ones, offered players a front row see to the foundation of the Brotherhood. Meanwhile, the second expansion, The Curse of the Pharaohs, saw Bayek journey to the city of Thebes to investigate the happenings surrounding a strange curse. Sometime soon, Ubisoft may give players a reason to re-explore all of the above.

In celebrating "AC Day," the official Assassin's Creed Twitter account teased that Assassin's Creed Origins will eventually receive 60fps support. The post in question, in addition to a separate tweet from Ubisoft India, notes that developers are investigating the possibilities; thus, concrete details presently remain under wraps. Still, this is a good sign that Bayek of Siwa's Ancient Egypt-set adventure will soon run at a smooth 60 frames per second via backward compatibility on current-gen consoles.

This will no doubt please many an Assassin's Creed fan who's longed for an AC Origins FPS boost. Hopes for such an update especially picked up in late August after Assassin's Creed Odyssey received a 60fps patch on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. As of writing, Ubisoft has yet to specify when exactly the boost for the 2017 adventure will go live.

The Origins installment provided the long-running brand with many firsts, one of which involved the advent of Discovery Tour mode. Built to allow people from all walks of life to explore digital Ancient Egypt without any in-game threats, Discovery Tour now counts as yet another pillar of the franchise. As such, both Odyssey and Valhalla have added free updates boasting the educational game mode.
