With the next installment of the Assassin's Creed franchise rumored to be released in late 2022 or early 2023, and with Assassin's Creed: Valhalla fans expecting no further DLC, there isn't a lot for fans of the Brotherhood to enjoy at the moment.

So, as fans tend to do, many have returned to the recent games to enjoy some of their most beloved features. In the process, as they pick up Assassin's Creed: Odyssey some have rediscovered the vast array of customization options within the game. As it turns out, Phobos has had some great looks through the years.

Entry Not Found (Equine Enforcer)

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Equine Enforcer Phobos Skin

While Assassin's Creed relies on historical figures, settings, and influences, it has never really been afraid to delve into the realm of science fiction. This is especially true for fans who purchased the Abstergo DLC Pack for Odyssey. While this grants players access to an Abstergo uniform and a laser bow, it also allows users the Equine Enforcer skin for Phobos.

With exposed wiring, glowing eyes, and metal plating all across the horse's back, Equine Enforcer just looks like it stepped out of some futuristic dystopia right into the realm of Ancient Greece. It's especially fun to duck through flooded ancient cities on the back of a creature that might have stepped right out of the year 2099.

Pegasos

For fans that enjoy more contemporary influences for Phobos, Pegasos is perfect. By picking up the Pegasos Mythical DLC Pack, players can visit some of the best places in Odyssey while riding a horse that stepped out of myth and into reality.

The nicest part of Pegasos is how well it features into the myth of the Eagle Bearer. After all, what better for a misthios that relies on their winged friend than getting a second for the bargain? The wings also have the practical purpose of providing an easier target to spot when players are tracking down their horse in the middle of a fight.

Acheilos

Given how much time Odyssey players are expected to spend on the water, it makes sense that at least one Phobos skin would be tied to it. Players who purchase the Shark DLC Pack get several unique benefits, but chief among them is a horse that looks like it stepped out of a horror movie.

With a helmet showcasing sharp teeth and a sharp horn, this skin looks absolutely terrifying. Players who enjoy roleplaying within the world of Odyssey adore the intimidation factor of riding through fields on a horse that looks like it can take down any mercenary with one look.

Hourglass

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Hourglass Phobos skin

Fans of the steampunk genre haven't had a lot to enjoy from the Assassin's Creed franchise since the release of Assassin's Creed Origins. At least, they didn't. Fortunately, Odyssey decided to throw fans a bone by bringing in the Hourglass skin. Attainable only through the Kronos DLC Pack, this skin feels like it stepped right out of Bioshock.

With eyes hauntingly replaced by grates, a poorly stitched saddle, and an armored plate pressed over its nose, the Hourglass skin may not be particularly notable from afar. Upclose, however, the details are intricate enough to make it one of the best skins in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.

Sacred Bull

Sometimes it gets tiring riding everywhere on the same old variations of the same old horse. That's why Odyssey elected to introduce a mount that didn't necessarily need to be a horse. In the Dionysos DLC Pack, players can elect to give up on Phobos entirely and instead spend their days charging through Greece on a bull.

The bull also has a detailed drawing of Dionysus emblazoned on it, which is the sort of fun little detail that makes Odyssey one of the best Assassin's Creed games. While the bull doesn't really provide any material benefit in the game, it's still fun to have the variety. Plus, there aren't enough Greek china shops for the bull to ever really be a problem.

Sacred Deer

For fans who want variety in mounts, but who don't want to spend their time in the game charging through on a bull, there is another skin that can provide what they need. The Oracle DLC Pack provides users the chance to spend some time on a deer with glowing blue eyes and horns that can terrify any passerby.

Even outside of the aesthetic benefit, the sacred deer is a central figure in an iconic myth, as it was the killing of Artemis' deer that led to the goddess ordering Agamemnon to sacrifice his daughter. So, for the more mythological-inclined fans of the series, getting the chance to ride on a sacred deer is more than just a minor boon. Instead, it shows the level of detail and research Ubisoft put into Odyssey.

Unicorn

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Unicorn Phobos Skin

With a bright pink horn and rainbow trails that follow its hooves, the unicorn is one of the most unique skins in the game. It's also one of the easiest to acquire, as it can be picked up using in-game currency at any Blacksmith — though it can be difficult to find a Blacksmith that sells it.

While the trail can make it a little difficult to navigate at times, the aesthetics and iconic nature of the skin make it a good buy regardless. Plus, how can fans spend so much time on a horse and not have a unicorn of their own?

Tartaros Charger

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Tartaros Charger Phobos skin

Another creature stepping straight out of myth, the Tartaros Charger is a skin that looks incredible on the run. With lava cascading through its innards and bright-hot horns, it's incredibly fun just to ride across landscapes on the back of this bull. Fans can pick it up just by purchasing the Herakles DLC Pack, and many think it's worth it just to ride this bull at all.

Besides having the benefit of being easy to spot at night, there's nothing more fun than running into soldiers and mercenaries on a gigantic molten bull. It also adds to the intimidation factor that makes the misthios one of the best fighters in Assassin's Creed.

Melaina

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Melaina Phobos skin

A horse that was available to all players on the first anniversary of the game's release, the Melaina is one of the strangest creatures in the game. With bright purple eyes, long sparkling wings, a horn of its own, and bright hooves that leave a purple trail in their wake, it's easy to spot at night and in rain, even accounting for its black hair.

The wings are especially fun, as they rise and fall depending on speed, height, and how abruptly the misthios forces it to stop. Best of all, it was completely free — something players definitely appreciated.

Abraxas

The mysthios riding Abraxas the fire horse in AC Odyssey

Another skin that can be acquired free of charge, Abraxas is the horse that players earn by reaching Tier 1 as a mercenary. It's difficult work, but most players agree it's worth it, given how amazing this skin looks.

Like the Tartarus Charger, Abraxas has fire all across its body, culminating into an inferno around its skull-like face. It's easy to spot at night, in the rain, and really anywhere on the screen, regardless of the setting. Besides, it's worth it to pick up Abraxas just to satisfy the rule of cool.
