Assassin's Creed Mirage Release Date Moved Up By One Week

A tweet from the Ubisoft account has revealed a new release date for Assassin's Creed Mirage – October 5, 2023. This is a week earlier than what was originally revealed by a trailer in May. Screen Rant's original article follows below, discussing the reveal of the now-incorrect release date.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s release date was finally revealed by Ubisoft. The new game in the franchise is an homage to the classic titles that marked the series’ early years, with a narrowed-down world in comparison to Odyssey or Valhalla, for instance. Players will control the character known as Basim Ibn Ishaq, who actually made his debut in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

The previously leaked release date for Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set for October 12, 2023, officially confirmed by the most recent trailer shared during PlayStation’s 2023 Showcase on YouTube. Aside from the release date itself, the video featured gameplay scenes of Basim in 9th Century Baghdad. The trailer was later posted on Ubisoft's official YouTube channel as well.

The reveal trailer showcases the focus on stealth and parkour rather than the most recent RPG elements of the series. Pre-orders for Assassin's Creed Mirage are now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

AC Mirage Release Date Trailer Shows More Classic Gameplay

Assassin's Creed Mirage's Basim jumping in the air with the Hidden Blade ready to strike.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is set in 9th Century Baghdad, and will see Basim during his initiation as a member of the Hidden Ones, the precursor organization to the Assassin Brotherhood. An important figure in his journey will be his mentor, Roshan, who will teach him the ways of the order. The game appears to be more linear than the previous installation, and is more focused on the stealth and parkour aspects of gameplay. The intention for the title is that it is more similar to the first games in the franchise rather than the most recent ones, which have many RPG elements.

As a prequel and something akin to a spin-off of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Assassin's Creed Mirage will show Basim's journey from a street thief to a Hidden One and, perhaps, the realization of the fact that he is a reincarnation of Loki, which leads him north years later. This is a big change of pace for the series, which had openly embraced a full remodel of the gameplay.

Assassin's Creed Origins was the first title to introduce major changes with the wider open-world map and RPG elements that allow players to customize their experience even more. That was then followed by Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which took players to Ancient Greece, further expanding the size of the map and adjusting RPG elements. The last one was Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which was even bigger than the previous title, with major adjustments to the gameplay based on the previous games' feedback.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is taking a step back and not only making the gameplay return to its origins but also significantly reducing the size of the map and the number of gameplay options, though the untitled, Japan-set Assassin's Creed Codename Red is expected to continue the open-world RPG line. Mirage should be a great installation for fans who were missing the classic Assassin's Creed formula. Now with Assassin's Creed Mirage's release date set for October 12, players do not have to wait much longer to revisit the gameplay which made the series popular.
