This holiday season, Titan Books plans to publish Assassin's Creed: The Culinary Codex, an updated version of a cookbook that previously released in French and is finally receiving an English translation. The French edition, Assassin's Creed: Le Codex Culinaire: Recettes de la Confrérie des Assassins, launched in late 2017 and came packed with 40 recipes inspired by the Assassin's Brotherhood's past adventures.

Since video game-related cookbooks continue to grow in popularity, this particular release couldn't come at a better time. Insight Editions, for example, recently announced Tomb Raider: The Official Cookbook & Travel Guide, a 144-page hardcover tome scheduled to drop this fall on October 26. In the past, other game franchises have received cookbooks based on their respective universes, including the likes of Destiny, Monster Hunter, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls. English-speaking Assassin's Creed fans can expect to get their hands on a similar product by this year's end.

As relayed by PC Gamer, Titan Books plans to publish Assassin's Creed: The Culinary Codex on December 14. Fans can pre-order the tome via websites such as Penguin Random House, which boasts a listing highlighting what customers should expect from the $30 item. Spanning 144 pages, the Assassin's Creed cookbook by Thibaud Villanova will include "40 recipes across 10 full menus," all inspired by locales wherein the Assassin's Brotherhood fought. Thus, recipes from the Italian Renaissance, French Revolution, American Revolution, and more will feature, covering celebrated dishes from Masyaf Moutabel, Davenport Homestead Soup, and Boston Apple Pie to Meringues Mirabeau and Rooks’ Bread Pudding.

The cookbook seems of a high quality, providing fans of the franchise with yet another collector's item that could prove worthy of an investment. Of course, whether or not the recipes themselves will similarly meet expectations remains to be seen.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla serves as the most recent entry in the long-running franchise, hitting store shelves late last year in November 2020. In the months since then, developer Ubisoft Montréal has regularly updated the open-world experience with new content, ranging from in-game events to gameplay improvements. A paid story DLC, Wrath of the Druids, further expanded upon the narrative with its rollout in May. The second major expansion, The Siege of Paris, arrives this month on August 12.
