A new Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag-centered webcomic is coming to Webtoon. Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple is the result of a partnership between the comic publisher, Ubisoft, and REDICE Studio. The story will bring fans more of Edward Kenway, the protagonist of the game that inspired it.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was released in 2013 and is the sixth major entry in the franchise. While it has been quite a few years, the game has proven to be one of the most popular. REDICE Studio is a Korean art studio that usually adapts light novels into webcomics. It has produced Omniscient Reader, I'm the Max-Level Newbie, I'm the Queen in This Life, and Tomb Raider King, among others. Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple will add new, original characters to the game's world, as well as an original story. It will feature Edward after he has been integrated into the Assassin Brotherhood, serving as a sequel to the game.

Webtoon's new Assassin's Creed series will bring back the Animus memory-travel machine, but the story will also allow new readers to jump into the franchise. It promises to combine historical elements with present-day action while maintaining an emphasis on historical accuracy, which the series has been renowned for during its 16-year history. The first six episodes will be available on April 24. New episodes will release weekly, and the series is planned to run for three seasons, spanning 150 episodes.

Edward Kenway's latest quest sends him on a search for Pieces of Eden on the coasts of the Southeast Asian seas. His modern-day descendant introduced in this series will be Noa, a Korean American investigating the Assassin's past while seeking information about his family. This will be Webtoon's latest partnership, as the webcomic publisher has previously worked with DC, Marvel, Riot Games' Valorant, Krafton's PUBG, HYBE, and Archie Comics. This will be the newest video game IP that will be featured on Webtoon, adding onto the franchise's storied history.

REDICE Studio says:

Assassin's Creed is a one-of-a-kind IP, and our goal was to create a work that would be appealing not only to fans of the original game, but also to readers who are encountering the Assassin's Creed IP for the first time through WEBTOON. We are thrilled to work with UBISOFT and WEBTOON to tell a new side of the Edward James Kenway story set in Southeast Asia. We can't wait for fans to dive into this rich new storyline and entry into the Assassin's Creed universe.

Ubisoft's Director of Global TV & Transmedia Business Development, Julien Fabre, adds:

We are thrilled to expand the Assassin's Creed series to WEBTOON thanks to this amazing collaboration with WEBTOON and REDICE STUDIO. We've been working hard with the talented folks at REDICE to craft this original Assassin's Creed Black Flag sequel and hope that existing fans and new readers around the world will enjoy it.
