Wonder Woman is one of several big DC heroes that still haven’t appeared in the Arrowverse proper but she has been teased multiple times. The CW’s ever-growing DC TV franchise has evolved on a massive scale since the brand began in 2012 with Arrow. Once the Green Arrow-drama fleshed out with The Flash, multiple spinoffs were launched that have introduced several iconic DC heroes and villains over the years. Despite the access that The CW has been granted, there are still plenty of iconic DC heroes that haven’t made it to the small screen. With WB’s film division wanting certain characters to be reserved for the big screen, the TV world has been limited to making occasional references, Easter eggs, and teases. It’s only now that Superman, for example, is getting a bigger spotlight on TV with the upcoming Superman & Lois spinoff.

The CW has, more or less, formed its own version of the Justice League with Crisis on Infinite Earths solidifying that concept earlier this year. Founding members like Batman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman have still not appeared in the flesh, but have been established in various ways. Batwoman has established to a point what the Arrowverse’s Dark Knight is like including revealing what he looks like in their season finale. But in the case of Wonder Woman, the iconic Amazonian heroine has had an intriguing development throughout the franchise without Diana Prince stepping into any of the shows. Other than Lynda Carter, who played the DC icon in her own series in the ‘70s, appearing on Supergirl, connections to the Themyscirian warrior has been limited.

Despite WB embracing the Multiverse concept through Crisis and what’s going down in the DCEU with The Flash film, Diana is still nowhere to be seen on The CW. As Gal Gadot currently portrays the heroine in her own franchise, with Wonder Woman 1984 set to be her next appearance, it might be a while until Arrowverse viewers ever see Diana appear on Earth-Prime. However, that hasn’t stopped the writers from toying with her existence in the shared universe over the years. With 7 DC TV shows on their slate for next season, it might only be a matter of time until Diana emerges on The CW across any of the series. Here is every Wonder Woman tease and Easter egg in the Arrowverse (so far).

Themyscira

Themyscira exists in the Arrowverse

Legends of Tomorrow season 3 had a big surprise for viewers with what is still one of the largest Wonder Woman Easter eggs to date. In the 6th episode “Helen Hunt”, introducing Helen of Troy, Diana’s home island is introduced out of nowhere. Helen, who was an anachronism in Hollywood 1937, was aided by the Legends but had no interest in going back to Troy. With how she was being mistreated by men, Zari Tomaz ended up changing her life for the better. Towards the end of the episode, Zari takes Helen to an island where warrior women lived. Managing to find a loophole for Helen without fracturing the timeline, the island Zari had taken her to was none other than Themyscira in 1253 B.C. As Helen becomes a citizen, she ended up becoming an Amazon who shows up later in the season. So far, Legends of Tomorrow is the only series to have referenced and showed Themyscira in a single episode.

Maxwell Lord

One of the earliest DC villains that Supergirl ever introduced was actually a major Wonder Woman foe: Maxwell Lord. However, the Arrowverse iteration was reimagined with very few ties to his comic book counterpart. Still a shady businessman, Lord is also a scientist who was up to disturbing experiments including the creation of Bizarro Girl in efforts to make his own Supergirl. While he ended up helping the heroes from time-to-time, Maxwell mostly stood as a foe to the Girl of Steel. However, the Arrowverse interpretation had him be a regular human rather than a metahuman with persuasion based abilities. After Supergirl moved from CBS to The CW, Maxwell hasn’t been seen since the season 1 finale. Maxwell will, however, be seen on the big screen in Wonder Woman 1984 with Pedro Pascal bringing the villain to life.

Earth-2 Diana Prince

Despite the fact that Wonder Woman has yet to appear on The CW, the Arrowverse has enjoyed featuring various Diana Princes in the Multiverse. The Flash season 2 went as far as introducing Diana’s Earth-2 counterpart before the franchise had even hinted at the Earth-1 version. In the episode “Welcome to Earth-2” which becomes Barry’s first visit to another Earth, he spots the names of some of his doppelganger’s friends. While visiting Earth-2 Barry’s home, Barry spots a phone listing several names on speed dial buttons. Not only are Justice League allies like Bruce Wayne and Hal Jordan seen, but Diana’s name is on there too. Since the original Earth-2 was destroyed, fans will never learn about Diana’s dynamic with Iris and Barry.

Cheetah

The Flash season 3 ended up teasing another iconic Wonder Woman foe that is soon making her live-action debut in the DCEU: Cheetah. In the season’s penultimate episode “Infantino Street”, Barry breaks into ARGUS with the help of Captain Cold from the past to steal a power source from the Dominators. While walking past several cells containing various criminals, one of them lists Cheetah on the screen. That’s as far as the Cheetah cameo goes since the episode doesn’t reveal anything else about her in this universe. Despite there being multiple Cheetahs in the comics, it’s very likely it was Barbara Ann Minerva who will be played by Kristen Wiig in Wonder Woman 1984.

Earth-D Wonder Woman

Even though Crisis on Infinite Earths never had Diana join the heroes on TV, the heroine appears multiple times in the tie-in comic by Marv Wolfman, who wrote the original 12-issue series, and Arrowverse producer Marc Guggenheim. The way she appears is through a number of doppelgangers from different Earths that the villainous Outcast is targeting. One of them is Earth-D which features Justice Alliance that consists of black iterations of DC’s iconic superheroes. During the fight, a Wonder Woman can be spotted aiding her allies. Since she is never named, it’s possible that this Wonder Woman is actually a nod to Nubia while Earth-D could be an allusion to Earth-23 which also had a black Justice League.

Earth-N52 Wonder Woman

Another version who appears briefly during the Crisis tie-in comic is the Wonder Woman from Earth N52. In the opening pages of the comic, Pariah visits that Earth that is in the process of being destroyed by Anti-Matter. On the building’s screen, Bethany Snow is reporting on the Crisis as well as the Justice League being taken by Anti-Matter. One of the heroes that are spotted is that world’s Wonder Woman whose design is reminiscent of The New 52’s suit, especially since the world is referred to as Earth-N52. Since the Earth was getting wiped out, there was obviously no time to explore any of those heroes, including that version of Diana.

Earth-76 Wonder Woman

Arrowverse-Wonder-Woman-Earth-76

The final doppelganger may actually be the Crisis tie-in comic’s biggest one as it integrates Lynda Carter’s iteration into the Arrowverse Multiverse. Outcast and Pariah have a battle on Earth-76 where that reality’s Diana is spotted changing into her Wonder Woman costume. As they battle, Wonder Woman flies off to save a group of kids before they, unfortunately, get taken by the Anti-Matter. There were actually attempts to get Carter’s version of the DC hero in Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, it didn’t pan out and this became the crossover’s way of bringing her show into the DC Multiverse. Since Oliver Queen rebooted the Multiverse, as the Spectre, perhaps Earth-76 was restored in some capacity to leave the door open for Carter’s Diana to show-up on any of the shows down the line.

Earth-1/Earth Prime Wonder Woman

Batwoman Wonder Woman

Prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths, Batwoman became the series to finally confirm the existence of Wonder Woman on Earth-1. In the second episode “The Rabbit hole”, Kate Kane ends up getting to be the first Arrowverse character to ever reference Wonder Woman by name. Throughout the episode, Kate is suspected by Sophie Moore to have dressed up as Batman to save her from Alice. Even though she was spot on, Kate denies it by stating that she hates the Caped Crusader. Kate goes on to say that if she was going to save Sophie in a “dramatic fashion”, she’d suit up as Wonder Woman, confirming the hero’s existence in the Arrowverse.

While Earth-1 was destroyed, it’s hard to imagine that Earth Prime is without a Wonder Woman since it became a huge deal when her name was said on Batwoman. But so far there are no details about this world’s version of her other than that she is a superhero. That is, however, an advantage, for The CW if they ever are allowed to use Wonder Woman in the Arrowverse. Without revealing too much too soon, it gives the creators free reigns to establish who Diana is on Earth Prime and where she is currently in life. But by at least having confirmed that she is active in this world, it’s a neat way to have Diana in this world. Hopefully, there will be a day when the Arrowverse finally gets to use Wonder Woman as she is one of the remaining Justice League members that need to join the franchise.
