One of the biggest DC Comics characters to have gotten a major spotlight in media is Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow. Whether it’s in Justice League Unlimited, or live-action portrayals on Smallville and Arrow, the Emerald Archer is bigger than ever. While Oliver’s time on the small screen is over — for now — Green Arrow and the Canaries might continue to keep the DC archer on-air next season. Ideally, the CW will let fans know soon if Mia Queen will keep Oliver’s legacy going strong.
Since he is one of the more light-hearted superheroes, the Green Arrow opens himself up for some good-natured mockery. Whether it’s in the form of memes or fan-art, there are a number of things about Oliver that never fail to make Arrowverse fans laugh.
The Thank You Oliver Owes Malcolm
In the early days of Arrow, Oliver wasn’t exactly the kind of vigilante that was keen about getting a codename. Throughout most of the first season, he was referred to as the Hood, which was definitely not the greatest nickname for a superhero.
However, Malcolm Merlyn, aka the Dark Archer, pretty much served Oliver the perfect name as early as the ninth episode. Though Oliver mocked it, three seasons later he was officially going by Green Arrow.
Arrow Vs Bullets
Oliver has made it clear in various interpretations that he is more than just a skilled archer. On Arrow, he was definitely capable of fighting with a variety of weapons.
However, a funny scenario that would have been perfect is if Oliver just ditched the archer thing because people like Damien Darhk or Barry Allen could just catch his arrows. Whatever the “Green Bullet” would look like, it would have been a hilarious situation.

It was a major moment for Green Arrow fans when Oliver’s new suit for the fourth season was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con of that year. After having asked for multiple seasons, Oliver was finally going to wear a suit without any sleeves. But wouldn’t he get cold? One of Green Arrow’s most beloved trick-arrows is and always will be the boxing glove arrow. As silly as it looks, it actually is extremely effectual because of how much pain it can cause.
If you’re a playboy millionaire with unlimited resources, why only use it on traditional weapons? If you have the means to make boxing glove arrows, you make as many as possible.
Do Not Fail Oliver
Another comic book show that was around when Arrow was still on the air was the short-lived Marvel series, Iron Fist. At the time, there were elements of the MCU’s version of Danny Rand that definitely reminded people of Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow. However, Danny was a bit of a disaster, including his insane amount of reminders that he is the Iron Fist. If Oliver ever met him, he would definitely make sure he knew that he had failed his city.
How Oliver Should Have Honored Tommy
When he was still the Hood, Oliver was very much a murderer, which some people in his life had issues with, including Tommy Merlyn. In Arrow season 2, Oliver swore to never kill again and become more of a hero rather than a vigilante.
While it was a powerful message, Oliver’s promise could have led to an earlier introduction of the boxing glove arrow. Rather than just shooting criminals, he could have knocked them out with that trick-arrow instead.
Green Arrow Losing His Membership
In the comics, Oliver has had his challenges in the Justice League, including even becoming a member. Whether or not it’s because of how similar he is to Batman will always remain a mystery. But what would likely be the thing to end Oliver's time with the league? Probably if he took an arrow to the knee, causing permanent damage.
How A Green Hoodie Should Feel
Thanks to his popularity in the Arrowverse, Oliver Queen he has become a primary archer in fiction. However, if Green Arrow has done anything for fashion, it’s making green hoodies a lot cooler. Even if you don’t have the skills of an archer, it’s understandable if donning a green hoodie makes you feel like Green Arrow.
From Green Arrow To Green Arrow Foe
Neal McDonough is no stranger to playing comic book characters, both on the big and small screen. While Marvel fans know him as MCU’s Dum Dum Dugan, DC fans know him for two specific roles. McDonough literally fulfilled Harvey Dent’s prophecy from The Dark Knight as he went from voicing the Green Arrow to then becoming one of his enemies on Arrow.
Enter The Green Arrow Verse
While Smallville ended up crossing over with the Arrowverse in Crisis on Infinite Earths, there was one actor a lot of fans were hoping to see: Justin Hartley. The This Is Us star was the first actor to ever play the Green Arrow in live-action, which is why many wanted to see him and Amell at some point share the screen.
