Stephen Amell celebrates his massive Arrowverse return in a new The Flash season 9 set photo as they are filming episode 9. The CW is not holding back when it comes to The Flash season 9, which will officially end the popular Arrowverse drama. Grant Gustin officially dons the Scarlet Speedster for 13 more episodes before The Flash concludes later in 2023. The Flash's swan-song season also marks the final Earth-Prime-based series in the Arrowverse franchise since Superman & Lois is on a parallel Earth. The DC TV series will begin its final journey on Wednesday, February 8, at its regular 8 PM EST timeslot. As The Flash season 9 is working on episode 9, it will be a major Arrowverse reunion, with Amell returning as Green Arrow. The episode – which is directed by Caitlin Snow herself, Danielle Panabaker – will also feature Kid Flash, John Diggle, and Bloodwork. While episode 9 won't air until later in 2023, Amell recently celebrated his return to the Arrowverse through a new The Flash season 9 set photo. Taken outside of Iris West-Allen's office at The Central City Citizen set, Amell shared an image of his cast chair while being thrilled to be back. How Amell's Oliver Could Return For Flash Season 9

As exciting as it is to see Amell appear in The Flash season 9, the biggest question right now is how this will be possible. Since 2020, Oliver has been dead after sacrificing himself twice during Crisis on Infinite Earths as the Spectre. However, while Oliver may have passed away, the Arrowverse already set up his return for The Flash season 9 in 2022. The official Arrowverse tie-in comic, Earth-Prime, saw Oliver re-emerge as the Spectre in the sixth and final installment.

Given the massive scope of the Spectre's powers, Oliver is clearly able to leave the Afterlife in some capacity. Since The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace stated that Barry and Oliver will be "saving the world together again," he is there in person to some degree. What will likely happen is that Oliver will return as the Spectre for whatever threat Barry is facing before eventually going back to the Afterlife. It is unlikely that The Flash season 9 is going to undo the massive, significant climax that Arrow season 8 ended with, given the big send-off Oliver got.

What To Expect From The Flash Season 9

While episode 9 will be huge, The Flash season 9 has a lot of stories set up for the final season. Batwoman's Javicia Leslie will play an alternative, villainous take on her character as the Red Death – despite The CW referring to her as a "Mystery Character." Several Rogues will pop up, including Owen Mercer as the new Captain Boomerang. The Flash season 9 will also see the arrival of whoever becomes the Negative Speed Force's new avatar. While not in episode 9, another Arrowverse hero is stopping by Central City, with Supergirl's Dreamer (Nicole Maines) scheduled to appear for a single episode. As bittersweet as it will be to say goodbye to the show, The Flash season 9 looks to be a massive final season.
