A new behind the scenes photo of the Arrowverse's crossover reveals the first look at Lois Lane. The CW is just now launching the new seasons of their several DC properties, but the filming schedules are far ahead. Production on Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow is currently concerned with this year's crossover event, and the recently released poster revealed superhero identity reversals for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). Not pictured was Melissa Benoist's Supergirl or her Kryptonian cousin.
The crossover is titled Elseworlds and explains the role switch for two of the universe's biggest stars, but it also gives them a chance to bring back Tyler Hoechlin's Superman. As exciting as it is to have Superman return, the crossover will also introduce fans to the newest Lois Lane, played by Grimm's Elizabeth Tulloch.
Hoechlin posted a new BTS photo from the Arrowverse crossover on his Instagram that featured him, Benoist, and Tulloch in casual clothes on the set. This is the first look at Tulloch's portrayal of Lois Lane. She's closely embracing her star-crossed love Clark Kent, with cousin Kara Danvers right next to them - at what could be the Kent Farm in Smallville, Kansas.
Since filming is currently underway on the Elseworlds crossover, it is great to finally get a look at their version of Lois Lane. Even though this event will span across several different Earths, the Arrowverse appears to be sticking close to the source material in bringing Lois to the small screen. Not only does Tulloch look exactly like Lois, but the character breakdown for this version of the reporter sounds just like the character fans of DC comics know and love. Based on Tulloch's own comments about the role, she's excited to bring the spirit of Lois to the screen.
It has yet to be revealed how large of a role Lois will have in the crossover, but we know she'll at least be appearing in the Flash and Supergirl episodes. She should have plenty of time to interact with Superman, who will be sporting a black suit in the crossover, and hopefully there's plenty of chemistry between Tulloch and Hoechlin so they can properly sell the Lois and Clark relationship. Although there's yet to be plans announced for Tulloch (or Hoechlin) to appear in the back half of any of the current seasons of The CW's multiple DC series, a promotion such as that could come if reception to them in the crossover is high. We'll obviously have to wait several more weeks to see her portrayal, but at least we now have an idea of how Lois will look in the Arrowverse crossover.
The Arrowverse's "Elseworlds" crossover event kicks off with The Flash on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 8pm ET, then continues with Arrow on Monday Dec. 10 at 8pm ET, and concludes with Supergirl on Tuesday Dec. 11 at 8pm ET.
