A new photo has emerged, giving fans a closer look at the Arrowverse's incarnation of Batwoman. The character is played by Ruby Rose and will first appear alongside Supergirl and The Flash in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event, Elseworlds. Development on a solo spin-off show is also currently underway. The casting of Rose received a mixed reaction. While many fans (and the co-creator of Batwoman) eagerly got on-board, some criticized the choice, leading Rose to quit social media.

Regardless, work on the crossover continues to move forward. Excitement for the episodes has grown in recent weeks, with numerous bits of information steadily emerging. A recently released poster revealed that some of the characters will be undergoing somewhat of an identity switch. The episodes will also see the return of both John Wesley Shipp's Jay Garrick - complete with original 1990s costume - and Tyler Hoechlin's Superman, who fans will see in the iconic black suit they'd hoped for in Justice League. Joining the latter will also be the Arrowverse's version of Lois Lane. Still, the first appearance of Batwoman remains a huge draw for most fans.

Melissa Benoist fueled the hype, taking to Instagram to share a new behind the scenes image of Rose in full costume. This isn't the first looks fans have had at the character, with official images being released previously. Still, it's a pleasantly candid image. Rose is clearly having a great time on set and appears to be getting on well with the rest of the cast - something which will no doubt translate to some brilliant on-screen chemistry between the heroes. There remains a large portion of fans who continue to hope that the Batman himself will one day appear. Recent rumors suggest that fellow CW star, Jensen Ackles, would be appearing in the role. Arrow's Stephen Amell quickly quashed them, however. He refused to rule out the idea of Batman one day appearing, but it's not likely to be any time soon. Although DC and Warner Bros. apparently has no current plans for Ben Affleck's Batman, they no doubt still want to keep from over-saturating audiences. As it stands, fans will merely have to be content with one of the big three joining the small screen team, and what is looking more and more to be a great interpretation of Batwoman.
