As new Arrowverse episodes are being delayed due to coronavirus, The CW has opted to re-air its Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. Crisis on Infinite Earths brought together all of The CW's Arrowverse shows, from the flagship series Arrow to its newest addition Batwoman, as numerous DC heroes came together to prevent the destruction of the multiverse. The event also expanded to other DC properties like DC Universe's Titans, Smallvilleand even the DC Extended Universe through a cameo with Ezra Miller (The Flash).

The coronavirus pandemic has led to countless delays for movies and television shows, and the Arrowverse has not been left untouched. Production on The Flash, Supergirl, and Batwoman has been suspended for the time being, while Legends of Tomorrow has already completed filming its fifth season. Because of the production delays, the three shows could be left with shortened seasons. Upcoming episodes of The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow had already been pushed back as The CW adjusts its schedule.

To fill that void, The CW has decided to re-air Crisis on Infinite Earths. According to ComicBook.com, Crisis on Infinite Earths will begin on Tuesday, April 7 with Supergirl, followed by Batwoman's part 2. This will preempt the previously scheduled episodes of The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Crisis on Infinite Earths will continue on Wednesday, April 8 with The Flash's part 3, and the final two episodes will air on Thursday, April 9 with Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

The Arrowverse shows are far from the only CW series affected. The re-airing of Crisis on Infinite Earths will preempt that week's episodes of Riverdale, Katy Keeneand LegaciesAdditionally, it was announced earlier this week that new episodes of Supernatural would be delayed for a while due to production shutting down. Several network television shows have been confronted with production delays and disruptions in their schedules, forcing some to hold the end of their current seasons to next season. It is unclear when the Arrowverse shows expect to resume production.

The coronavirus outbreak has led to a great deal of disappointment among fans as their favorite shows get delayed, but at least The CW has attempted to come up with some kind of solution to give them something fun to watch. Crisis on Infinite Earths was a big success for the network, and re-airing it gives The CW the opportunity to pull in more fans who might have missed it the first time. There may not be any new Arrowverse episodes for the time being, but fans won't be without content.
