The Arrowverse is filled with many superheroes who do super things. However, the audience might be surprised to realize that a lot of these heroes don't have any actual special powers. Instead, they rely on their combat training or other means of defense to defend and save the world.

Of those who do have special powers, not all superheroes use them on regular basis. And some even gave them up in order to lead more normal lives (such as Cisco). The remaining special powers range from pretty extraordinary and cool-looking to much more subtle, some of which might even border on mundane.

Cecile Horton: Empathy

Unlike other powered people in the Arrowverse, Cecile's abilities aren't visual. When she was pregnant, she could read thoughts which was much more intriguing but it has since changed.

Nowadays, she can sense the emotions of others which can be still useful in her line of work but it lacks the same 'wow effect' that other powers on this list have. Since sensing emotions is purely an internal thing, it doesn't show on the outside.

Nate Heywood: Turning Into Steel

Citizen Steel in DC's Legends of Tomorrow

The reason Nate doesn't rank higher on this list is that he barely uses his powers on the show, possibly because of budget issues. Whatever the case, Nate has the ability to turn into steel. That makes punching him a very challenging matter.

Turning into steel can be useful but only if one uses it regularly. There were too many situations on Legends of Tomorrow where using it would've helped but he didn't use it.

Zari And Behrad: Air Power

Legends of Tomorrow Zari Tomaz Pre-Crisis

Just like Nate, Zari and her brother Behrad rarely ever use their powers, which knocked them down this list. Unlike Nate, they also need their Air Totem to use the powers. The totem has been in the family for a long time and it allows the siblings to create windshields and blasts.

That helps against weaker enemies but was no match against the likes of the three Fates, for example. Plus, the blast is something truly fast people can dodge.

Firestorm: Fire Powers

Legends of Tomorrow: Firestorm has his head on fire

Firestorm's powers create a direct contrast to Caitlin's abilities, funnily enough. It's funny because Caitlin used to be married to the former Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond. The fire powers can wreak a lot of havoc if aimed properly.

It can be hard to control them, though. And the Arrowverse once again didn't utilize them too often, possibly because of the necessity to create demanding special effects.

Caitlin Snow: Ice Powers

Caitlin only got her powers in the third season but she has learned to control them since then. She doesn't use them as often as she could, though.

They come in handy for freezing her opponents or knocking them down to the ground with icy blasts. But by far the coolest effect her powers have is allowing Caitlin to travel on icy bridges or lanes of sorts she builds for herself in the air.

Supergirl And Superman: Flying, Super Strength, Etc.

Both Supergirl and Superman have a large variety of powers - such as super strength or laser eyes. However, their most iconic power is probably the power of flight. It may not look extra flashy like The Flash's powers (pun intended) but it still fulfills its purposes.

It allows the Kryptonian heroes to easily catch up to most of their enemies and get anywhere they want to in the nick of time. Super strength, laser eyes, and their other powers are also pretty cool and make them incredibly powerful beings.

Barry Allen: Superspeed

Imagine how many things people could do in a day if they had superspeed. Barry's powers allow to him show up and save the day in a matter of seconds. The fact that he can see the world around him in slow motion is pretty cool, visually at least.

However, besides stopping villains, there are plenty of other, more mundane activities Barry can use his speed for. For example, he can read a book fast, grab a pizza or clean the entire house in a very short time. That's something many people wish they could do. In a recent episode, he also gained the ability of speed thinking, which was mighty useful.

Martian Manhunter: Shapeshifting

It's true that Martian Manhunter has more powers. But shapeshifting is one of the coolest ones. It's a shame he doesn't use it more often on Supergirl as it can lead to funny and/or intense moments. One such moment happened when J'onn pretended to be Kara to throw her boss off Kara's trail.

The ability to shapeshift has a lot of potential uses, as other heroes have demonstrated as well, such as Mystique in the X-Men movies. An honorable mention should also go to Charlie aka Clotho who had the same power, but John Constantine took it away from her shortly after they met.

Nora Darhk: The Fairy Godmother

Legends of Tomorrow Fairy Godmother Nora

Who wouldn't want to have their own fairy godmother? The former villain Nora Darhk took on the role when the previous fairy godmother tricked Nora into taking her place. However, Nora soon realized she loved her new job, no matter how demanding it was.

She can fulfill the wishes of her wardens and the wishes can take on many different forms, from throwing a lavish party to helping people fall in love. There's a limit to what Nora can do but most of the things she tried on the show weren't out of her reach.

John Constantine: Magic

John's powers are pretty impressive. He can achieve things other people can only dream of. For example, John used his powers to banish demons and people alike into Hell and h can also travel there if needed.

In the latest season of Legends of Tomorrow, he even stopped Zari's heart without killing her. Magic is a popular power since there are many things a person can do with it, which means it's always fun to watch what will John use his powers for next.
