The Arrowverse is having its biggest season yet with a big line-up of shows that are all gearing up for Crisis on Infinite Earths. With Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and now Black Lightning all coming together, that means upping the game big time. That also includes upgrading some of our heroes' costumes. As the 5-hour event is getting closer and closer, some of the new costumes for this season have been shown in action. While some are also part of the crossover, hence no concrete footage of them in motion, photos will have to do for the time being. But in the case of the Arrowverse, if the costume looks great on the pictures, they usually look just as good when they are in action.
With the many talented costume designers involved, we have no doubt they will all look great after seeing them in motion. With the new season of some of the shows already underway, it's time to look at all the new costumes and ranked them from start to finish. These are the ten new Arrowverse costumes for this season, all ranked.
Given her big role in the Crisis storyline in the comics, it wasn't too big of a surprise that Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson) would become her comic counterpart for this crossover. Following her Arrow debut all the way back in the first season, Lyla is officially taking on her Harbinger role from the 1985 storyline. With her embracing the Harbinger of it all, she got her own costume revealed a few weeks ago. While she may not be sporting the long blonde hair, it's a solid adaptation that also had some appropriate updates made to it to feel like a costume from 2019 rather than 1985.
Tom Cavanagh has played so many roles already in the Arrowverse and for the crossover, he is playing his biggest role yet. He is set to bring Pariah to life in the upcoming saga that deals with the fate of the Multiverse. Pariah has quite the look in the comics and it appears that the costume department didn't want to hold back when doing it for live-action.
Cavanagh is rocking that cape and armor as he will be playing one of the biggest roles within the DC TV universe of all time.
8 Killer Frost
Even though Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) has had several Killer Frost looks in the past, season six finally found her perfect costume. After trying several variations of a Killer Frost suit, the one she gets in the sixth season is perfection. It honors the comic version of Frost's costume while also fitting with the Caitlin we have come to know on the small screen. The inclusion of the frost logo is the biggest inspired part of the costume, without a doubt.
Diggle (David Ramsey) has upped his Spartan costume at least once every season at this point. But his new look in the eighth and final season of the Green Arrow drama is incredibly valid. With Oliver (Stephen Amell) destined to die in the crossover, it does feel fitting that Diggle is adapting more green to his Spartan uniform.
Since there are hints that his future as Green Lantern will be addressed before the series ends, it is perfect to see Diggle regularly sporting black and green on his costume.
6 Green Arrow
Oliver has also had a fair number of costume upgrades in the last few seasons. But his final suit is Oliver's best look of all time, beating out all the previous costumes he has worn in the first seven seasons. This is the most comic book-y that his Green Arrow costume has ever gotten. It still meshes with the style Arrow has established while also drawing inspiration from the comics. The green is also popping a lot better compared to previous suits.
Unlike the majority of the Arrowverse, Melissa Benoist's Supergirl finally got her first costume upgrade and it's a big deal. After spending four seasons in the same costume, Kara (Melissa Benoist) had her old cape be destroyed in the season opener. This prompts Brainiac 5 (Jesse Rath) to reveal that he has made her a new advanced costume.
Ditching the skirt for a full bodysuit, this is a terrific new look for Kara. It reflects her growth as a character in the last few seasons.
4 Black Lightning
While not officially part of the Arrowverse, at least not yet, Black Lightning's (Cress Williams) new look earns a spot on this list. We will always love his first costume simply because it was his first look and a modern update from his comic designs. But with that said, it became very obvious that it was hard to move around in that suit because of its weight and design. In the third season, we finally see Jefferson get a needed upgrade that gives Freeland's electrifying hero a slicker look. That look will also be perfect when he joins the other Arrowverse heroes for the Crisis.
3 Black Canary
After finally being redeemed last season, Earth-2 Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) has gone from Black Siren to becoming the new Black Canary. But rather than sporting her Earth-1 doppelganger's old costume, Laurel got a brand new uniform. That is, without a doubt, the best Black Canary costume in the entire Arrowverse. It has the traditional color from her comic counterpart and it actually stands out from the many costumes we have seen on Arrow.
2 The Flash
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) also got to the point this season where he has his best costume of all time. While it is not too different from his season five design, this one still beats it, without a doubt. The new cowl is also a step towards Barry's comic look which is greatly appreciated. The costume designer has also now gotten the red tone on the suit to a perfect level where it's neither too dark or bright.
1 Kingdom Come Superman
While Brandon Routh has been busy playing The Atom for the last few years, his role in the crossover will be a double feature. Routh is set to play his Superman from Superman Returns who will be sporting a Kingdom Come inspired-look. It's almost like seeing the entire costume walk right out of the comic pages and onto the television screen. Every detail matches what we have seen from the iconic storyline and it will be interesting to see how Routh's version of Superman plays out throughout the Crisis. In addition to that, it's remarkable to see that particular S-shield finally come to life beyond the pages.
