Note: This post contains SPOILERS for Arrow season 3.

DC may still be paving the way for the big screen Justice League adventure, but in the meantime, fans of the DC universe have been able to get plenty of their favorite heroes on television.

The 2012 debut of Arrow kicked off what could very well be turning into an interconnected, multi-network web of shows, and in many ways, the show continues to open the doors for broader, more ambitious storytelling within that world. The recent death (and eventual return) of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is just one recent example of the show's openness to shaking up the status quo.

Now, thanks to  The CW, we have a deeper look at the stunt work involved in Oliver's fateful battle with Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable), which you can see above. The behind-the-scenes video offers solid insight into the preparation involved in staging such a visceral fight scene and particularly highlights just how much of the choreography was performed by Amell himself.

Without a doubt, Oliver's epic confrontation with the enigmatic leader of the League of Assassins has been a highlight of Arrow's current season (read our review), and the impact the battle (and its dark conclusion) have made on viewers makes even more sense considering all the rehearsals and forethought that went into designing a memorable and wholly realistic battle scene. Of course, the battle has also had a tremendous effect on the show plot-wise, and will no doubt continue to do so in the wake of the offer Ra's al Ghul made to Oliver in the most recent episode.

From a business standpoint, releasing behind-the-scenes highlights like this video on Arrow's stunt work is a smart move for the show, as it only serves to remind viewers of all the effort that has gone into the show. By any measure, Arrow has proven a runaway success for The CW and superhero television in general. After all, the show has already led to the creation of The Flash, and with a second spinoff officially in the works, there's no telling what the future may hold for the world that Arrow has created.
