Arrow: Oliver's Family is Targeted in 'The Ties That Bind' Trailer

Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) sets his sights on Oliver's family in a trailer for next week's episode of Arrow. Diaz has spent much of the season trying to find a nonlethal way of defeating the Green Arrow, but is now willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of Oliver for good.

After Oliver's battle with Diaz, Oliver was arrested for being the Green Arrow and put on trial. A fake Green Arrow and witness testimonies from his former team members and Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) weren't enough to give Oliver a "not guilty" verdict, and it took it some quick thinking from Rene (Rick Gonzalez) to keep Oliver from getting sent to prison. Christopher Chance/Human Target stole the judge's identity in an effort to overturn a "guilty" verdict. In response, Diaz nearly killed Black Siren and vowed to kill Oliver, his family, and his friends.

A promo for the penultimate episode of season 6, titled "The Ties That Bind", shows Diaz embracing his new plan: kill Oliver Queen and everyone he cares about. Fans can watch as Diaz's army targets Oliver, Felicity, and William at their home, Rene and his daughter, Diggle and his wife, and Team Arrow's secret base. The synopsis for the episode reveals that Felicity will put herself in danger to take down Diaz.

Diaz's decision to go after Oliver directly marks a major shift in tactics. Diaz wanted Oliver eliminated through legal means, knowing that if Oliver were to be killed, he'd die a martyr. Diaz worried that the city would rise up against him if that happened. However, the result of the trial has caused Diaz to abandon that idea. Now that the gloves are off, it will be interesting to see how Oliver and the rest of his allies react. Now that Oliver and Rene are friends again, it may be easier for Team Arrow to unite again just in time for the final showdown with Diaz.

Since Diaz won't be pulling his punches anymore, it's possible that not everyone will make it out alive. The character who fans may need to worry about the most is Star City's new mayor, Quentin Lance, especially since Paul Blackthorne won't be returning for season 7. It could be that the return of his daughter Sara (Caity Lotz) in the season finale has something to do with the character's fate.
