The CW has set the Arrow and Supernatural series finale dates along with the premiere dates for midseason shows like Legends of Tomorrow. The new TV season has become a big one for The CW with new series debuting as well as a few flagship shows coming to an end. Revealed earlier this year by the main stars of the respective shows, Arrow season 8 and Supernatural season 15 would be the final ones for two of The CW's biggest dramas. When The WB and UPN merged to become The CW, Supernatural was one of the shows to help launch the new network.

It has lasted to the point where it's The CW's longest-running show, beating Smallville that ran for 10 seasons. In the case of Arrow, the Stephen Amell-led series helped launch a franchise of series that has become known as the Arrowverse. The final season is not only setting up Amell's exit from the DC TV universe, but also the five-hour Crisis on Infinite Earths event. Season 8 is also being used to set up the Green Arrow and the Canaries spinoff that will continue Arrow's legacy through Oliver's daughter Mia (Katherine McNamara) and the two Black Canaries Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy).

The CW has unveiled the dates for the rest of their 2019-2020 slate with several returning shows as well as the end of Arrow and Supernatural. The Oliver Queen drama will bow out on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 with a two-hour block that will begin with a pre-finale featurette. The series finale, titled "Fadeout," will then kick-off in the second hour. Supernatural, which will move to Mondays starting on March 16, has its series finale set on Monday, May 18. As one Arrowverse series concludes, another returns with Legends of Tomorrow season 5 set to launch on Monday, January 21 right after Arrow. Despite partaking in the upcoming crossover on Tuesday, January 14, the Legends portion is being counted as a "special" episode and not the actual season premiere. After Arrow ends on January 28, Legends will be back the following week and air after The Flash for the rest of the season. In their announcement, The CW made note that dates for In the Dark and the final season of The 100 will be revealed at a later time.

While the dates for All American and Black Lightning are being treated as season finales, it doesn't mean that the network has renewed them or any other show for additional seasons. News on renewals and cancellations for The CW will arrive sometime between the TCA Winter Press Tour in January 2020 and the network Upfronts in May 2020. With dates for Arrow, Supernatural, Legends of Tomorrow and the other shows revealed, it's going to be a big second half for The CW's TV season in 2020.
