The CW's Arrow has been having something of a revival lately. After spawning the Arrowverse which birthed The FlashLegends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, Oliver Queen's adventures became mired in the doldrums for two seasons. Season 5 has seen the show hit the reset button in some ways, refocusing on Oliver's journey to becoming the Hood in the flashbacks and giving him something positive to work towards in present day. Despite the loss of Laurel and the threat of Prometheus, the Green Arrow and Mayor Oliver Queen have managed to keep their shared head above the water thanks to a new team of recruits.

The rookies have allowed Oliver to focus on the future instead of wallowing in the past, and the results have been spectacular. We've seen him return to his roots in the Bratva this week, and a new Black Canary has joined the team. Still, some mysteries remain. While we've seen Curtis' slow journey to Mr. Terrific unfold and know the broadstrokes of Rory's transformation into Ragman, much of Rene's past is a secret. That all looks to change as next week's episode, "Spectre of the Gun," will finally give us Wild Dog's origin.

We got the promo for the episode last week, and now CBR has a batch of photos teasing the action of the episode. Check them out below:

While promotional images usually don't give too much away about an episode, these photos actually reveal a good bit. While Rene's actual backstory will have to wait, we know Dinah Drake will be fully added to the fold, Diggle will be back in action as Spartan, and Thea and Quentin will make a welcome return. We also see Rene suit up in a very different way than we're used to as he pays a visit to Mayor Queen's office before a mysterious assailant riddles the place with bullets.

After next week's episode, all that's really left to uncover is how and why Artemis joined up with Prometheus. We know she'll be returning, so hopefully we'll find out more about her motivations when she does. The Arrowverse has been doing great work adding lots of female villains to its shows, so the next step is for one to ascend to Big Bad status. While that may not be Artemis, she could take up Prometheus' mantle once Oliver inevitably defeats him. We'll just have to wait and see.

Arrow returns with "Spectre of the Gun" on Wednesday, February 15 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
