Arrow season 6 gets a brand new promo teasing fans of the major changes that the show will roll out for its upcoming outing. We already know that by the end of the show's fifth outing, the long-running narrative of Oliver's (Stephen Amell) lost years on the island of Lian Yu has already wrapped up, giving the show an opportunity to deviate itself from the past and develop new story arcs moving forward. But even at the very end, the mysterious place is still going to have a lasting impression on the show with the catastrophic explosion that will spell the end for some of our beloved characters.
With the show treading unchartered territory, it is difficult to predict where folks behind Arrow will bring the series in terms of narrative moving forward. Several hints in terms of subplots have been revealed like Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) possibly going all the way with rekindling their romantic relationship, as well as, a Diggle-centric (David Ramsey) storyline that may not be something necessarily good for him. Fans can also expect that the new outing will feature a wiser Oliver, as it is something Amell was pretty adamant about in terms of where his character is going after getting closure from his Lian Yu days.
The promo courtesy of The CW offers not much in terms of new scenes but it double downs on the new trajectory that Arrow will be treading moving forward. Deathstroke (Manu Bennett), interestingly was very prominent in the less than a minute clip. “You and I walk between two worlds. We can only do that for so long,” he tells his arch-enemy turned one-time ally, Oliver. The video then turns into an action-packed montage with split-second shot of evil Earth-2 doppelganger of Laurel Lance now known as Black Siren wreaking havoc around the city including the Star City Police Department. You can check out the full clip above.
It has been confirmed that the villain will have a two-arc personal narrative this season that would further develop our understanding of his character with the introduction of his son. Interestingly, the father and son dynamic appears to be a huge narrative thread in the show's sixth season with the teasers also including clips of Oliver's son eerily telling his dad about him being the bad guy -- an intriguing sequence especially with how it will affect their volatile father and son relationship.
Obviously, due to the cliffhanger that was ensued in the season 5 finale, The CW was limited in terms of providing new clips from the season as it could reveal who lives and who dies in Lian Yu. Executive Marc Guggenheim has already shared that it would be a slow process in terms of revealing those who have survived the explosion which could mean that it would be a season-long narrative intertwined with other small subplots. For now, however, Arrow season 6 seems to be highlighting on the relationship parallels between Oliver and Wilson with their respective sons.
Arrow season 6 premieres Thursday, October 12, 9 pm ET on The CW.
