Arrow Season 6: Scandal Hits Oliver Queen

Oliver Queen's status as the Mayor of Star City is in serious danger on next week's episode of Arrow. Oliver may finally be outed as the Green Arrow. Characters have connected the dots between Oliver and the Green Arrow before, but the cliffhanger from Thursday's episode suggests that this time the evidence may be too strong to dispute.

On the season 6 premiere, "Fallout," we finally got to learn who lived and who died after Prometheus (Josh Segarra) committed suicide and caused a massive explosion on Lian Yu. After a five-month time jump, we learned through flashbacks that Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) shot Earth-2 Laurel/Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), leading her to develop a vendetta against him in the present. While still reeling from the impact of the explosion, Team Arrow had to find a way to stop Black Siren. At the end of the episode, a stunned Oliver watched a breaking news story about a surveillance camera catching an image of the Green Arrow unmasked as Oliver Queen.

A promo for next week's episode, "Tribute," shows Oliver dealing with the press as he defends himself from accusations that he's the Green Arrow, despite the clear evidence presented in the video. What could prove even more dangerous than the press is a visit from the FBI, who is now investigating the incident. The preview introduces viewers to FBI agent Samandra Watson, played by Sydelle Noel. "Intelligent and poised with a no nonsense attitude," Noel's Samandra Watson promises to create a great challenge for Oliver as he struggles to protect his double life as both the mayor and the Green Arrow.

The CW has released a synopsis for the episode:

ANATOLY RETURNS TO STAR CITY — Oliver (Stephen Amell) tries to balance being the mayor, the Green Arrow and a father to William (guest star Jack Moore). Anatoly (guest star David Nykl) returns to Star City with a deadly agenda.

Released prior to the season 6 premiere, the synopsis was clearly written in a way that purposively avoided spoiling the cliffhanger. The synopsis makes no mention of Oliver's latest scandal or the FBI, but does tease other problems that Team Arrow will be dealing with. It's unclear how Anatoly's return will affect the FBI's investigation, though we do know that Anatoly will have "an interesting power" over Oliver in season 6.

Fans will be interested to see what Oliver plans to do to avoid being exposed. This wouldn't be the first time Oliver has had to fend off accusations of being the Green Arrow, and it's possible that if he does find a way out of this one, suspicions will continue to linger with certain residents of Star City.
