Fans of the DCEU have had a lot to be excited about in recent years, including an expanding cinematic universe and new TV and online adaptations of their favorite heroes. In the latter camp is Arrow, the TV show that kickstarted a whole host of DCEU series via The CW that coexist within a timeline commonly referred to the "Arrowverse." Arrow protagonist Oliver Queen has gone through a lot in past seasons of the show, and things aren't about to get easier for the hero in season 5. The good news is, he won't have to fight iconic villains like Tobias Church and Prometheus alone.
A recent promo showed Queen assembling a new team for season 5, and now a new TV spot follows up on that idea. The spot, which encourages viewers to "Meet Team 2.0," offers a sneak peek at what to expect from the show's new and developing characters, all while giving viewers a taste of Arrow's signature dynamic. Check it out, above.
The promo spotlights new team additions Mr. Terrific, Artemis, and Wild Dog (aka Curtis Holt, Evelyn Sharp, and Rene Ramirez) as they train to join, in Ramirez's words, Queen's "band of merry men." And, while Sharp looks more than ready to take down some baddies, we get another glimpse of Curtis's seemingly mediocre abilities and find Ramirez a little reluctant -- though maybe he's just a sarcastic guy. These shots of the new team at HQ and in action are intercut with flashes of Oliver in the heat of battle, triggering explosions and taking down henchmen with characteristic cool.
The CW is really coming through with some cool marketing materials for this latest season of Arrow, as was seen from their recent poster release. This is shaping up to be a season that looks like it will follow through on star Stephen Amell's promise of returning the show to its roots, and give fans some fresh faces to root for after the shocking end of season 4. Don't get too excited for Team 2.0 just yet, though -- the show's October 5 premiere will focus on Oliver alone, while the second episode slated for October 12 has been titled 'The Recruits.'
The Flash season 3 will premiere Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Arrow season 5 will premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 5, Supergirl season 2 on Monday, Oct. 10, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 on Thursday, Oct. 13, all in the same time slot.
