Oliver Queen is a changed man, but he won't be the only thing that's different when season 4 of Arrow premieres in less than a month. For one, Diggle will finally be getting a costume after years of fighting alongside his good friend to save Starling City. And the Arrow will also be getting a bit of a costume change too, retiring his vigilante persona for a new, sleeker look. But there's also a few other surprises in store for fans of the series.
As of last season's finale, Oliver's sister Thea is now on board the crimefighting, superhero team. And Oliver and Felicity, who for the most part held back their feelings for three long years, will finally be a couple when the show returns. Then there is the pending arrival of Neal McDonough’s Damien Darhk, who will be darker and more dangerous than any of the Arrow's villains before.
All these plot threads and more and teased are revealed in the latest images from the Arrow season premiere, appropriately titled 'Green Arrow':
The official season 4 description makes it clear that Oliver's happiness in the finale will be tested going forward. After leaving Starling City with Felicity, Oliver had hoped to begin a new life. But as recent trailers have recounted, Diggle, Thea, and Laurel come looking for the Arrow to help fight 'the ghost'. In the meantime, the relationship between Diggle and Oliver will also have to be repaired.
There's plenty more drama and action not pictured in the premiere images, too. Malcolm Merlyn and Nyssa al Ghul are not gone from the series. Season 4 will also see the return of Sara Lance and the arrival of Matt Ryan as Constantine. The new season is already packed to the brim, and we didn't even touch on the introduction of Hawkgirl, not to mention the Arrow/The Flash spinoff Legends of Tomorrow. Season 4 is sure to be an exciting ride.
The Flash season 2 premieres on The CW on Tuesday, October 6 at 8pm/7 central; Arrow season 4 debuts Wednesday, October 7 at 8pm/7 central; Legends of Tomorrow begins in 2016.
