'Arrow' Producers Reveal Season 2.5 Episode & Character Details

Nyssa al Ghul

Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) arrives in Starling City with this week's episode, "Heir to The Demon" - and as THR heard it from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg:

"Second to [Ra's al Ghul], [Nyssa]'s one of the most important figures in the League. They sent their first round of minions to come for Sara and that didn't go so well for them, so now they're bringing out the big guns. The way Nyssa comes into the story is in a far more provocative and surprising way than the last round."

The promo below suggests as much; apparently, Sara Lance's departure didn't just scorn the League - but also a lover?

Law had her own words to say about portraying Nyssa - a member of the al Ghul family who has far less exposure than Talia or Ra's or Batman's son with Talia, Damian:

"Everything about her is wide open...She is precision and precise and everything she does has a purpose and an intent, so I tried to make sure my movements were sharp -- that was the biggest stress."

"Great Big Villains"

Like so many shows, Arrow will be giving a wide berth to the 2014 Winter Olympics - but when the show does return from hiatus at the end of February, producers promise it is going to return with a barrage of villains. Said Kreisberg:

"It's just villain, villain, villain, great big villains, one after the other...returning favorites and a couple of amazing brand new ones."

Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim is pointing to episodes 14 -18 as a major villain arc, saying those episodes, "are very much the villains' chapter [of the story] and it builds... [a] big mid-midseason cliffhanger, if you will."

Birds of Prey

Guggenheim addressed Arrow's upcoming depiction of the famous DC heroine team, which also had its own TV show. Not surprisingly, Arrow will be approaching things differently than both the TV show and comic books:

"Birds of Prey is very much the same thing. You're not going to end up with the Holy Trinity of Oracle, Black Canary and Huntress right out of the gate. We'll get there."

Added Kreisberg:

"Helena is gone, all that's left is the Huntress. She's become consumed by this vengeance for her father and when we see her she's in a very haggard and worn-out state. It's the big final confrontation between she and her father, and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) gets in the crossfire, and the Canary has to go into the rescue."

Suicide Squad

Hardcore fans have also been wondering when DC Comics' signature team of nothing-to-lose villains coerced into government black-ops services might be making an appearance on the show (the breadcrumbs have been piling up). The producers also touched upon that, as well, revealing that episode 16 will sport the title "Suicide Squad" and will feature the team.

Apparently Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) will return and recruit Diggle for a mission alongside the Suicide Squad - including his nemesis, Flloyd "Deadshot" Lawton. Aside form that drama we'll also see Diggle's time in Afghanistan in flashback, complete with cameo by Blackhawk robbery mastermind, Ted Gaynor (Ben Browder).

Hopefully the episode is good, providing motivation for that Suicide Squad movie we've heard whispers about...

Roy Harper is getting control of himself (as seen in the latest episode, "Tremors") - but that doesn't mean his introduction to "Team Arrow" is going to go smoothly.

Says Kreisberg:

"The next five episodes really charts Oliver's attempts to keep Roy on the straight and narrow... "The cave's getting full, and we don't shy away from the fact and we're hopefully using that to our advantage."

Summer Glau returns in Arrow Season 2 Episode 18

She's baaaaaaaaaaaack. Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau) will reappear in episode 18, and producers tease that she's been up to something, without revealing what that something is, exactly. No doubt it'll play heavily into the season-ending story arc - but it is doubtful that her machinations will be good for Team Arrow.

Arrow airs Wednesday's @ 8pm on the CW.
