Spoilers for Crisis on Earth-X

-

After defeating his Nazi doppelgänger, Oliver will have to contend with a traitor on his team in the midseason finale of Arrow. The Arrowverse's flagship show has always been about shifting the status quo. Oliver's identity has constantly shifted, and the series has morphed alongside him. So far, season 6 has seen Oliver step into his role as both a father and mayor while delegating the task of being Green Arrow to Diggle. Thanks to Crisis on Earth-X, Oliver will now also be the spouse of Felicity Smoak.

The trailer for next week's episode of Arrow picks up after the events of the recent Arrowverse crossover, showing Oliver and Felicity joined by their friends and family as they celebrate their union. This being Arrow, however, the merriment doesn't last long as Lance announces someone within the team is going to testify against Oliver and try to prove he's the Green Arrow to the FBI. Naturally, the heroes are thrown for a loop—and the timing couldn't be worse.

Along with the trailer, The CW released the synopsis for the upcoming midseason finale of Arrow, 'Irreconcilable Differences.' As if the issue of a turncoat wasn't enough, it looks as if Black Siren and Cayden James will be back to kidnap Lance—and leverage his life for a deadly weapon.

Black Siren in The Flash

“Irreconcilable Differences” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)

BLACK SIREN KIDNAPS LANCE— Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) is kidnaped by Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) and Cayden James (guest star Michael Emerson), who are looking to trade Lance’s life for a weapon of mass destruction. Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Team Green Arrow must figure out a way to save Lance while still keeping the city safe. Laura Belsey directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Sarah Tarkoff

Given the concept of a traitor emerges just as Siren and James execute their latest plan, it seems safe to assume the whole idea is one planted by Michael Emerson's super-criminal. After all, it's hard to imagine the reason any member of Team Arrow would sell out Oliver. That card was also played last season when Evelyn Sharpe was revealed to be working with Prometheus. So unless William is enacting a nefarious scheme to get his father to stop filling in as the Green Arrow while Diggle recovers, then Cayden James is likely toying with the heroes.

Either way, with Lance's life on the line and the threat of a doomsday weapon once again hanging over Star City, Team Arrow won't have an easy call to make. Oliver and Felicity may have affirmed their love for one another and the villains of Earth-X may have been stopped, but the midseason finale of Arrow looks poised to end on some dire stakes.
