DCTV shows Arrow, The Flash, Black Lightning, and Supergirl, as well as Supernatural and Riverdale get San Diego Comic-Con magazine covers. The CW has built up its lineup of superhero shows in recent years. Though the network's DCTV universe officially kicked off with Arrow, the shared multiverse of comic book-adapted superheroes has grown to include The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and CBS transplant Supergirl - with Black Lightning set to join The CW early next year. However, the network has long been a destination for younger-skewing genre TV, including hits like The Vampire Diaries, Riverdale, and the long-running fan-favorite Supernatural.
As a result of its genre-heavy programming, The CW typically has a big presence at Comic-Con International in San Diego every year - and 2017 is no different. Warner Bros. Television is bringing plenty to SDCC, including a number of CW shows, as well as those that air on other networks, including FOX's Gotham and Syfy's upcoming DC Comics series, Krypton. However, a handful of WBTV's CW shows have been spotlighted in a series of four TV Guide magazine covers featuring the stars of some of the network's most popular series.
Black Lightning star Cress Williams, who plays titular superhero Jefferson Pierce, revealed one cover on Twitter featuring him, Arrow star Stephen Amell and The Flash's Grant Gustin. Riverdale's Veronica Lodge, Camila Mendes, posted the show's own cover to Twitter that features herself, KJ Apa (Archie Andrews), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), and Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones). Supernatural star Jared Padalecki posted the TV Guide cover of himself and co-star Jensen Ackles to Twitter, and Melissa Benoist posted the final cover to Instagram featuring herself suited up as Supergirl. Each of the shows featured on the TV Guide covers has their own panel at Comic-Con, with many of them featuring a video presentation with a Q&A portion, which should give fans plenty of opportunities to ask questions of the various cast members. Of course, the WBTV series may also use the stage of Comic-Con to make big announcements about the forthcoming seasons - it was at SDCC 2016 that it was revealed Legends of Tomorrow season 2 would feature the Legion of Doom, after all. Fans may even get some idea of what The CW's DCTV universe plans for its big crossover this year.
That said, even if the DC Comics shows don't make any big announcements, WBTV is sure to roll out some footage from their upcoming seasons, as they typically do during Comic-Con. It also seems likely fans will be treated to footage of Riverdale season 2, but since Black Lightning hasn't filmed its full pilot yet, there may be less to present for The CW's latest DC series.
Of course, it remains to be seen what Warner Bros. Television has prepared each of these show's respective panels during Comic-Con, but with the reveal of TV Guide's magazine covers focused on Arrow, The Flash, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Riverdale, and Supernatural, fans can easily get hyped for the massive fan convention - which is officially a week away from kicking off.
