Arnold Schwarzenegger Sought for 'Twins' Sequel?

A new rumor claims that Universal has approached Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito, and Ivan Reitman about the possibility of a sequel to the 1988 comedy 'Twins.'

Rumors suggest plans for a sequel to the movie Twins

When most people think of Arnold Schwarzenegger, they recall the action hero from Predator, Terminator, or Conan. Still, there is another  group of people who remember the Governator fondly for his comedy roles, such as in the 1988 film, Twins.

Alongside co-star Danny Devito, Schwarzenegger played the genetically superior twin brother of a small-time crook (who also happens to be small). The film, which was directed by comedy master Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters), was a huge box-office success and led the way for other comic roles later in Schwarzenegger's career.

Now that Schwarzenegger is done with politics, and looking to get back into acting full-time, could Twins 2 be on the horizon? One report suggests it's a definite possibility.

According to Australian site, What's Playing, a source says that a sequel to Twins has been proposed by Universal. Here's the full quote from the anonymous source: "Knowing Arnold, Danny De Vito and Ivan Reitman are all still in touch and want to work together again, Universal came to them about it. It’s a germ of an idea that could spread fast."

Naturally, this doesn't mean that anything will come to fruition, or even that the three men are interested in revisiting this film. However, it just goes to show how much interest there is among Hollywood studios in getting Schwarzenegger back on camera.

Terminator 5 with Arnold Schwarzenegger

So far, we know that Schwarzenegger is working with Fast Five director Justin Lin on a possible return to the Terminator franchise, but even that is in the early stages. Previous reports have claimed that Arnold's next movie will be the drama Cry Macho or the action film The Last Stand. No matter what project Arnold chooses, it will be interesting to see how the 63-year-old actor fares in his return to the big screen.

Because so much of this news is unsubstantiated rumor, make sure to keep your eye on Screen Rant for more information on Arnold's official upcoming project. In the meantime, debate the merits of  Twin 2 in the comments and check back soon for our thoughts on the five sequels that Schwarzenegger definitely shouldn't make.
