Director Zack Snyder took to Twitter to tease an Army of the Dead announcement coming tomorrow. Snyder's first film after his cut of Justice League was released on HBO Max, Army of the Dead is looking to take the zombie genre to new heights. The director is building out a universe at Netflix that will see him release an anime-style animated prequel series and a prequel film, titled Army of Thieves, that will take place before the upcoming film. First, though, Netflix will release Army of the Dead this month.

Set to star Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, and Theo Rossi, the film will follow a group of ragtag mercenaries sent into the Nevada desert to retrieve a multi-million dollar haul from a casino safe in Las Vegas. What they're not expecting is the formidable horde of zombies that they'll have to fight on the way out. Snyder's alpha zombies are stronger and faster, coordinating an attack on the mercenaries as they try to make it out of Sin City alive. Snyder has teased more twists to come for the film and he may be announcing one of those tomorrow.

Snyder posted a brief video on Twitter of a scan of a vault underneath the desert. The video's neon pink and blue matches the promotional materials that have come out for Army of the Dead so far. Alongside the video, Snyder teased "news coming tomorrow," but gave no hint as to what it could be about.

Seeing as Netflix has already released a slew of trailers, posters, and pictures from Army of the Dead, it's hard to say if he could be unveiling something along those lines. In fact, it seems more likely that it could tangentially related to the zombie universe Snyder is building at NetflixArmy of Thieves has yet to receive a release date, despite the fact that filming was completed on the prequel in December. It's possible Snyder could be revealing a release date for that project or maybe even a trailer to capitalize on the hype of Army of the Dead's impending release.

It could also have something to do with the planned Army of the Dead prequel series. Little has been revealed about both projects connected to Army of the Dead and if, as expected, Snyder is truly building another cinematic universe on the streamer, the flagship film will only be the beginning. Army of the Dead is just a few short weeks away from its release, so Snyder has plenty of time to unveil just about anything he wants about the upcoming film and its various spinoffs.
