Mikey Guzman’s (Raúl Castillo) viral in-universe zombie-killing videos from Army of the Dead are released in full. Zack Snyder’s highly-anticipated return to the zombie genre debuted last month and has been garnering high praise ever since. As Snyder is one of the most polarizing filmmakers working today, there are always bound to be some detractors, but Army of the Dead has been hovering around the 70% range on Rotten Tomatoes since its release. This is a tick down from the critical reception to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but a vast improvement from his previous DCEU films in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Man of Steel.

Army of the Dead’s sizable heist crew includes characters played by Dave Bautista, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, and Tig Notaro, but Raúl Castillo’s Mikey Guzman was a surprise standout. Described in the film as a Chicano sharpshooter, Guzman is well-known in the Army of the Dead universe for his viral zombie kills videos on his Youtube Channel, "Guzman of the Dead 420." Though one of these videos was featured in the actual film, new content is beginning to surface.

Now, new in-universe videos from Guzman’s viral Youtube channel can be seen via Netflix Film Club. The various clips show Mikey Guzman’s various escapades around Las Vegas as he shows off his creative zombie-killing abilities, including pancaking a shambler's head with his Cadillac and a gory game of zombie baseball, replete with cheeky editing. Watch Guzman’s videos below:

Though he was introduced as a slightly absurdist character whose presence on the heist crew could be likened to a Harlem Globetrotter joining an NBA team, Guzman was actually awarded a heroic death towards the end of the film, as he sacrifices himself to save Bautista’s Scott and Arnezeder’s Lily. In today's world of social media, Guzman is not an implausible example of what type of influencers might spring up online in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

Guzman’s in-universe videos are just the latest example of Snyder’s knack for crafting cinematic universes, which will hopefully be displayed further in the two upcoming Army of the Dead prequels: Army of Thieves, a live-action film focusing on Matthias Schweighöfer’s eccentric safecracker Ludwig Dieter, and Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, an animated series follows the characters in the early days of the outbreak. Though Castillo’s character has not been confirmed to appear in either prequel, perhaps his viral zombie-killing videos will garner some interest in an Army of the Dead spinoff centered on the fan-favorite Guzman.
