Warning! Spoilers ahead for Ms. Marvel.

Marvel Studios' latest Armor Wars setup comes in Ms. Marvel and is totally unexpected, but in a good way. The upcoming Don Cheadle-led Disney+ series may still not have any release date, but due to MCU's penchant for playing the long storytelling game, it is already laying the groundwork for its narrative. Surprisingly, Marvel Studios uses Ms. Marvel as a launching pad for Armor War's central conflict.

Based on the comic book storyline of the same title, Armor Wars's story focuses on Iron Man keeping his creations out of the hands of those who want to use them for the wrong reasons. Marvel Studios has previously tackled this narrative in the first two Iron Man films, albeit only loosely. In Iron Man 2, he famously fended off the government from trying to get its hands on the Iron Man armor tech. Now that the genius billionaire is no longer around, this responsibility rests on the shoulders of those who survived him. Rhodey, in particular, is tasked to make sure that his best friend's legacy doesn't get tainted because bad guys got ahold of his inventions.

There's currently a scarcity of official information about Armor Wars given the MCU's stacked release schedule. Despite that, Marvel Studios has more actively started laying the groundwork for the show's narrative and in an unexpectedly genius way through Ms. Marvel and the Department of Damage Control. The organization was created by Tony Stark after the Battle of New York to clean up messes after every Avenger incident. As seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, they have seemingly turned villainous, now chasing down superpowered individuals. The MCU doubles down on this in Ms. Marvel as Damage Control uses Stark Tech drones to hunt down Kamala Khan. This should get Rhodey working to re-acquire those dangerous weapons, especially since they are being used to harm kids like Ms. Marvel. This should open up a much bigger conversation about who should control all the inventions that Stark left when he died. Whether they should be managed by his estate, a third-party entity, or the government is up in the air.

Rhodey's situation in Armor Wars can become more interesting because it doesn't seem like Stark Industries is doing anything to re-acquire these Stark creations. In fact, one of Stark's most important inventions, Dum-E is being kept by Happy Hogan as seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home. While Happy was one of Tony's most trusted friends, it could be argued it should be kept in a more secure location. Either way, this could put more pressure on Rhodey in Armor Wars as opposing organizations argue his legitimacy as Iron Man's representative.

There's still a possibility that Ms. Marvel's real villain isn't the said organization; it's starting to appear that the real villain is Kamran's mother, Najma. But, regardless of Damage Control's true motivations in the Disney+ show, they are using Stark Tech to terrorize private citizens, let alone a young teenager, and that's plain wrong. Iron Man wouldn't have approved of it and, hopefully, Rhodey won't in Armor Wars as well.
