The Game Awards 2020 were full of surprises and reveals for new and upcoming video games. One of the biggest surprises of the night, though, was a trailer starring Vin Diesel as a caveman fighting off dinosaurs and monsters. It was a game that looked as awesome as it did bizarre. ARK: Survival Evolved debuted in 2015, giving players a chance to fight off various dinosaurs on islands. The action-adventure MMO game allowed players to use futuristic tech along with archaic tribal tools. It's perhaps best known for allowing ARK: Survival Evolved players to tame various creatures in the game, and famously got a Pokémon mod a few years ago. Now, ARK's sequel is starring Vin Diesel as a dinosaur-fighting tribal leader.
Known for, among many other things, his role in The Fast & The Furious movie franchise, Vin Diesel is also the voice of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor stays pretty busy, and has a loyal fanbase. He's had a pretty busy 2020 outside of movies as well, releasing his own pop songs earlier this year. Now, it looks like he's adding to that diversity by also starring in another video game, ARK 2. This isn't the first time Vin Diesel has stepped into the world of gaming, though, as the actor already had a starring role in Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay in 2004.

Diesel won't be reprising his Riddick role this time, however. The cinematic trailer for ARK 2 looks gorgeous, detailing fantasy-like jungle landscapes packed with dinosaurs and rival tribes. Details for the game are still a little scarce, but the trailer revealed quite a bit about Vin Diesel's character. Based on ARK 2's trailer, Diesel's character is the leader of a tribe of humans and he is extremely protective of his daughter. Following a run-in with a rival tribe, a T-rex appears and the action really begins. By the end of ARK 2's trailer, Vin Diesel's character and his daughter have escaped to safety and are shown using some of the futuristic tech seen in the first ARK game.
The breathtaking trailer for ARK 2 has given fans a lot to be excited about. It's a smart move casting a popular actor like Vin Diesel too, since some people will definitely check out the game just because the actor is in it. Based on what was shown in the trailer, ARK 2 looks like it could be one of the most hotly-anticipated upcoming games of the near future.
