FX has just announced that Archer season 12 is set to premiere in August. Archer season 11 aired between September and October 2020. That season was originally set to begin airing in May 2020, but it was pushed to September because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 11th season of Archer saw the titular character, Sterling Archer, brought out of a coma he'd been in for multiple seasons after being shot. In the season finale, Archer and company travel to Antartica to solve a murder mystery. Eventually, it's revealed that there's a plan to have a hydrogen bomb blow up the ice caps and cause a massive flood. By the end of the episode, Archer and his team have brought down the bad guys, closing out season 11. Now, fans know when they can expect the new adventures of Archer to continue.

On Friday, FX announced the premiere dates for new seasons for a few of their TV series, and one of them is the season 12 premiere date for Archer. Archer will premiere on Aug. 25, just about 10 months after the last episode of season 11 hit the air. FX also announced premiere dates for What We Do In the Shadows, Impeachment: American Crime Story, American Horror Story: Double Feature and Y: The Last Man.

With a new release date being revealed, Archer fans have been saved from too long a wait time between seasons. In the last season, Pam, Cyril and the rest of his squad were getting used to Archer being back in the picture. Seasons 8, 9, and 10 took place within Sterling's mind as he was in a coma. When he returns to the team, he is blamed for discord among his International Secret Service team, and he's blamed for members falling back into troubling habits. Archer has to make some adjustments after returning, but naturally, he isn't all that eager to do so.

Known for its crude, quippy humor and hilarious running gags, Archer is a critically acclaimed series that's left its mark as one of the most original in recent memory. It debuted in 2009, and as evidenced by it being on its 12th season, fans and critics are happy to keep watching. After a detour that was seasons 8, 9, and 10, fans have been able to enjoy Sterling in a familiar environment, and season 12 will continue to see him in that space, which originally made the show so popular to begin with.
