Netflix's stunning animated series Arcane was quickly picked up for a second season shortly after its late-2021 premiere—a season which is bound to feature two exciting new League of Legends champions in the "Blood Brothers", Darius and Draven. A recurring character in Arcane season 1 was Noxian Warlord Ambessa Medarda, a character who potentially sets up the introduction of multiple prominent champions while further expanding the scope of the series beyond its original setting. While season 1 tended to focus more closely on the nations of Zaun and Piltover, season 2 could split the focus between these already established locations and the untapped potential of Runetera—specifically the brutal, expansionist empire of Noxus.

With Darius being described as Noxus's most feared and battle-hardened leader, and a powerful League of Legends champion, and Draven being hailed as Noxus's most celebrated Reckoner, or gladiator, the two brothers have become some of the most recognizable champions of the popular video game's stacked roster. As Arcane season 1 chose to focus on established champions such as Vi, Jynx, and Jayce and giving each a well-written arc in the process, the inclusion of an original character in Ambessa Medarda gives developer Riot an ideal opportunity to shift focus towards other fan-favorite champions, with the Blood Brothers being ideal candidates. Medarda's Noxian connections, both established and hinted at in season 1, may have been secretly setting up their future arrival.

Ambessa Medarda appears towards the end of Arcane season 1, visiting her daughter Mel with updates from the Empire of Noxus. Medarda's goal is to ally with Piltover to gain access to Hextech technology in order to help her in a potential war—one of many meaningful wars in Arcane. This potential war could be one of the catalysts behind Darius and Draven's interference. With a war going on in Noxus, who better than to show up on the front lines than Darius himself, the "Hand of Noxus", in alliance with Warlord Medarda. In addition to providing fresh faces to Arcane's cast of characters, the two making their debut in season 2 could also provide a narrative parallel to the main storyline of season 1.

With one of the main focuses of the first season being the relationship between sisters Vi and Jynx, Draven could be introduced and allow the show to focus on a brotherly connection in its sophomore season. This relationship could serve as the new emotional focal point for Arcane, with Vi and Jynx likely to set out on their own individual journeys after the latter's potentially lethal attack on the Piltover council. With season 1 taking already established game characters and exploring their backstories to a depth rarely seen in animation, fans of both Arcane and League of Legends would get to see a side of the Blood Brothers previously unexplored and become emotionally invested in even more fan-favorite champions.

Beyond just exploring more League characters, the introduction of Darius and Draven would also allow Arcane's creators to further expand the elaborate world that they inhabit. With the nations of Piltover and Zaun being so heavily featured in season 1, and so tightly woven together in terms of their in-universe history, the introduction of Medarda, Noxus, and therefore Darius and Draven—not to mention other potential arrivals like Swain—would allow the show to not only offer a change of scenery, but explore a country of Runeterra so different in culture and environment.

From its inclusion of established League of Legends characters, original characters and locations, and the varying political complexities that come with them, Arcane season 1 began secretly setting up for newcomer appearances down the line. Whether it be the cryptic mention of a war in the faraway country of Noxus, or a Noxian warlord herself, the seeds have been planted for the appearance of both Darius and Draven. With Arcane being so well-received from both critics and audiences alike, it's no surprise that Netflix and Riot Games will want to continue expanding the universe at their disposal, with no better place to begin than the empire of Noxus, with the Blood Brothers at its helm.
