Stars Amber Heard (Mera) and Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry) pose for the cameras in a behind-the-scenes photo for Aquaman with director James Wan sandwiched between them. The leader of Atlantis first debuted on-screen in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice together with short snippets of other superheroes like Ezra Miller's The Flash and Ray Fisher's Cyborg.
Principal photography for Aquaman started in Australia in May, under the working title Ahab. But location shoots are also scheduled to take place in other destinations like Newfoundland, Sicily, and even Tunisia. The production is heavily guarded with only a few sneaked shots ending up on the internet like a snap of Aquaman and Mera together for the first time in a single frame, as well as, the latter's first look while donning her costume.
The latest photo is courtesy of Heard herself, who posted the laid-back image on her official Twitter account with the caption "Water Break." The King of the Seven Seas and the love of his life smile in front of the cameras noticeably wearing more earth appropriate garb instead of their cool under the sea costumes.

Not much is known regarding the specific narrative that Aquaman will tread as more detailed plot synopsis is still yet-to-be-released by Warner Bros or DC Films. However, we do know that the film will have the leader of Atlantis dealing with conflicts both under and above the water surface. Further, the events of Aquaman will take place after this year's DCEU ensemble film, Justice League - in which both Arthur and Mera are confirmed to appear.
Aside from Momoa and Heard, Aquaman's cast is huge and full of talent. Critically acclaimed actress Nicole Kidman is set to play Arthur's mother and former Queen of the seas, Atlanna, as well as, Willem Dafoe who is taking on the role of Nuidis Vulko - the head Atlantis scientific advisor. More recently Michael Beach has been cast in a supporting role. The Sons of Anarchy alum will be playing Jesse Kane, Black Manta's (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) father.
As previously mentioned, before we even get to the solo Aquaman film, we will first be treated to Momoa's performance as the Atlantean king in Justice League - together with The Flash, Cyborg, Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Superman (Henry Cavill). The trailers for the Zack Snyder movie have left fans more excited on Momoa's take on the iconic DC heroes especially so with his cool action stunt scenes like leaping from the Batmobile to take on enemies to his quippy one-liners throwing jibes even to his teammates.
