The Justice League is an organization that's had hundreds of heroes in its roster over the years. And in that time, various romantic pairings have popped up. Some heroes like Superman or Flash may have love interests outside the cape community, but others have had hookups with their super-powered colleagues. And while it's no surprise that the love lives of heroes can be unconventional, their dalliances can be a source for drama at best, or the beginnings of a tragedy at worst. But chemistry is hard to ignore, even for the DC Universe's greatest heroes.
Aquaman Has a History With Multiple Justice League Members
But of all the heroes in the DC Universe, the hero that really gets around may come as a surprise to most. DC's Harley Quinn Romances #1’s story "Splendor in the Foam" by Ivan Cohen and Fico Ossio sees several notable heroes together for a Galentine’s meal at a local seafood restaurant. However, the dining experience is overtaken by Harley Quinn who brings up the subject of Aquaman. Harley asks if any heroes have had any romantic experiences with him, and to her surprise, nearly the entire bunch have. Zatanna, Vixen, Black Canary, Big Barda, and even Lori Lemaris all have had some encounter with the King Beneath the Seas. Whether fighting, stoically contemplating or stealing a kiss, Arthur Curry leaves a heavy impression on all the heroes. Strangely, every encounter the women recall always has Arthur mentioning that his usual love interest Mera is in another dimension.
It’s not surprising to hear that Arthur Curry is in such high demand. While pop culture may have made Aquaman a joke hero to some, in-universe, Arthur has always been a valiant warrior and an excellent leader. What is curious to hear is that Arthur may be a bit of a tomcat. He’s had a few additional love interest over the years, but his heart has almost always belonged to Mera. But according to the DC Galentine’s, his faithfulness may be in doubt.
Is Aquaman Two-Timing Mera?
Thankfully, the story is offered up in a classic Rashomon style, with every hero having a different interpretation on the sea-faring hero. Not to mention, several of the anecdotes aren’t explicitly romantic in nature, meaning Aquaman and Mera’s love life is just as strong as ever. However, seeing Aquaman in the role of a heartbreaker is an interesting change of pace for the character. It fits his dashing good looks and charm, even if the stories make him seem like a less-than-ideal romantic partner.
