In a stunning new Aquaman cosplay that spectacularly captures the King of Atlantis, cosplayer @armoredheartcosplay brings the Justice League hero to life. While Aquaman was once considered the butt of most jokes for superheroes in general, the DC Comics character has been reinvented into something cooler over time. The cosplay shows why Aquaman should be taken seriously as a hero, as @armoredheartcosplay strikes a powerful pose in gold armor and trident.
It's easy to see why Aquaman was often on the receiving end of jokes from both comic book fans and other DC Comics heroes. After all, his powers include being able to talk to fish - which became even more of a running joke during the character's appearances in his own late '60s self-titled animated series and in Super Friends, where he was best known for riding a seahorse. However, DC Comics would reinvent the hero during the 90s, where they gave him more serious stories and a chance to be a bigger presence among the Justice League. The hero going from a joke to being a cool hero came full circle when Jason Mamoa portrayed Aquaman in his self-titled solo film, where he looked more powerful than ever. Aquaman jokes have even been made at the DCEU's version expense, but, without taking away from the character.
What's no joke is @armoredheartcosplay's cosplay of Aquaman, which brings out the best of the DC Comics hero. Her version of Aquaman looks towards the water while standing on the beach, holding a miraculous three-pronged trident. The cosplay features a gold chest plate with diamond-like imprint details throughout, scaled pants with a gold belt (with the hero's logo on the crest), with gold bracers on her wrist. @armoredheartcosplay is a star in the world of cosplay, as she shared the Aquaman look to her nearly 250K followers on Instagram. The LA-based cosplayer has done other comic book-related costumes, including her takes on Invincible's Atom Eve and the MCU's Scarlet Witch ensemble.
With the DC Comics cosplay, @armoredheartcosplay put together a quality look for Aquaman, which creates something unique but true to the character at the same time. Aquaman might have been DC's biggest joke at one point, but with cosplays like @armoredheartcosplay's, the hero is no laughing matter.
