Patrick Wilson is all set to reprise his role as the Ocean Master Orm Marius in James Wan's Aquaman 2. The first film, alluded to as one of the highest-grossing films based on a DC character, chronicled the story of its titular hero as he set out to rescue the underwater kingdom of Atlantis from the clutches of his power-hungry half brother King Orm. The original Aquaman starred Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, and Dolph Lundgren in its lead cast.

Announced back in 2019, Aquaman 2 is touted to be a horror-tinged extension of Aquaman. James Wan, who has notably helmed hit horror films like The Conjuring and Insidious, has used some of his horror roots into the upcoming movie to allow for its formidable underwater visuals to stand out. Aquaman 2 is also going to be reportedly larger than its earlier counterpart, and it will manifest a Silver Age story vibe once it's out in the cinemas. Fans have gotten only a few updates on Aquaman 2 beyond this, but now fans have gotten a casting announcement.

During the Aquaman 2 panel at DC FanDome, Patrick Wilson confirmed that he would stage a comeback in the 2022 movie. Patrick did this subtly while talking about the challenges he faced while preparing for the role of King Orm. The actor, however, did not go into detail about how his character would be incorporated into the new story. Wilson also made a reference to his fate at the end of Aquaman during the panel by jokingly asking if he would be in seaweed handcuffs for the entire film.

Aquaman ended with Momoa's Arthur defeating Wilson's Orm in a duel. While Arthur spared Orm's life, the villain was eventually hauled away to a prison beneath the waves. When Wilson reflected on the possible return of his character in Aquaman 2 last year, he mentioned that he was unlikely to be a main villain in the new story if he even returned. Wilson stated that the scope of his character was up to James Wan, although he would be happy to be back if the director called for him.

While it is now known that Patrick Wilson will return as King Orm in Aquaman 2, it remains to be seen who he will align with. Aquaman's post-credits scene and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's subsequent confirmation about his return as Black Manta indicate that the vengeful mercenary will have a more significant role in the new film. But it's unlikely that the Atlantean Orm will team up with a human, a species he clearly despises. That being said, Orm accepted his fate after finding out that Arthur rescued their mother, Atlanna, so there could be room for redemption for the once fearsome supervillain in Aquaman 2.
