Mega-star Jason Momoa confirms he suffered multiple injuries while filming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Momoa stars as Arthur Curry, better known as Aquaman, in the upcoming DC Comics sequel. Momoa's character is a half-Atlantean/half-human king who can communicate with fish and swim at supersonic speeds. The action star first took on the superhero role in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Since then, Momoa has played the character in 2017's Justice League and 2019's The Lego Movie 2. He also starred as the titular character, Aquaman, in his own movie in 2018's film of the same name, which brought in a whopping $1.148 billion at the box office worldwide.

Momoa is no stranger to action sequences, having cut his teeth in films such as Conan the Barbarian and Once Upon a Time in Venice. Though a brief role, Momoa is perhaps best known for playing the powerful warlord, Khal Drogo, in the first season of HBO's incredibly popular series, Game of Thrones. Additionally, Momoa has seen violence first hand in his personal life when he was slashed across the face with a broken beer glass during an altercation in 2008. The cut resulted in 140 stitches and reconstructive surgery that left a permanent scar through his left eyebrow. Now, it appears Momoa has some more injuries to deal with.

ComicBook reports that while sitting down with Ellen DeGeneres for a virtual interview, Momoa confirms he suffered multiple injuries during the filming of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. While he wouldn't go into detail how the injuries occurred, the list of injuries Momoa mentions includes a hernia, pushed ribs, and several eye injuries. All of these will require the actor to undergo surgery at some point. Calling himself an "aging superhero," the 42-year-old actor also quickly assured fans his injuries were worth it, since the sequel's "gonna be a great movie." View Momoa's full explanation of his injuries below:

"I'm getting old. I messed up my eyes. I just got something in it that kinda cut it up, and then I've gotta get surgery, I have a hernia, I've got ribs out. I'm just getting beat up."

Despite his injuries, Momoa doesn't cite Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as a brutal film in his career. This is due to the fact that he goes "hard" in every role he takes, to which he explains, "I love my job and I get a little too excited, then the age thing." At just 42-years-old, Momoa is hardly the oldest action star to get in front of the screen, especially considering Harrison Ford's latest outing as Indiana Jones at age 79. However, it seems Momoa's dedication to his role may be finally catching up with him. Although that won't stop him from acting.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is currently in production, which means Momoa will have to wait to get the rest he needs for his injuries. While he also notes that his injuries weren't too serious, his fans will definitely appreciate the extra level he brought to the role. Though he may be getting older, Momoa is still in top shape, meaning nothing can stop the king of Atlantis.
