Aquaman's Jason Momoa jokingly exclaimed that he won't be able to film the Protector of the Deep's sequel due to his active participation in protests occurring in Hawaii. Momoa has been very vocal on social media as of late over the protests occurring in his home state, especially recently when he mocked the absurd criticisms aimed at his supposed "dad bod" and managed to flip it around to help draw attention to the cause that he's participating in. The actor has shot to stardom over the last couple of years due to his roles on Game of Thrones and in the DCEU as Aquaman. Because of all of this, he's become a major point of focus in the industry. With a monumental number of eyes on him, he's been more than willing to take that focus and shift it towards some more important matters.

Alongside his activism, he's become quite the sought-after talent in Hollywood. Within the last year alone, he's booked a revenge thriller for Netflix, a sci-fi series with Apple, along with working on the highly-anticipated sequel for the King of the Seven Seas. The latter's story is currently finished and ready to shoot, and Momoa had even opened up about working with the writers on it to help bring the finished product to life. He expressed that he longs to continue the underlying story from the first film about humanity being its own worst enemy, and that same passion is making its way into his personal life as well.

The actor took to Instagram to share a photo of the Thirty Meter Telescope that's currently under construction on sacred Hawaiian land. He and many others have been protesting this construction for weeks. In his caption, he exclaims, "Sorry Warner Bros we can't shoot Aquaman 2," jokingly adding in, "Because Jason got run over by a bulldozer trying to stop the desecration of this native land." Jokes aside, he went on to add that, "Enough is enough. Go somewhere else," and encouraging his followers to repost the image. Check out the full post below:

The Thirty Meter Telescope was greenlit by the state of Hawaii and is currently being constructed on top of the dormant volcano, Manua Kea. Indigenous groups in the area surrounding the mountain have been trying to prevent the construction of the Telescope because the area is considered sacred land. Momoa, who was born in Hawaii and is of mixed Indigenous Hawaiian ancestry, has been actively protesting the construction lately with the help of his son, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha.

Momoa's fervor for this cause is an admirable thing to see. It's proof that Hollywood's fame and celebrity haven't gone straight to his head and that he's still very much grounded in his homeland and the people he grew up with. It's not uncommon for celebrities to participate in social causes either, but Momoa has consistently proven his dedication to it and his refusal to give in. His passion radiates into every aspect of his life, whether it's a social cause or his next DC blockbuster outing, Aquaman 2.
