With just a few days to go before Apple is expected to announce its latest hardware offerings, a reliable analyst has confirmed some of the biggest rumors regarding the Apple Watch Series 7. As is usually the case for this time of year, Apple's poised to unveil a ton of new gadgets in September. New iPhones are expected, two new MacBook Pros seem very likely, AirPods 3 should finally debut, and there's also talk of a redesigned iPad mini.

Among all of that, one of the most anticipated gadgets coming out is the Apple Watch Series 7. The Apple Watch has become one of Apple's most important products since the original model launched in April 2015. It's a near-perfect iPhone accessory, has since evolved into a robust health tool, and is far and away better than virtually all of the other smartwatch competition. In 2021, the Apple Watch is likely receiving one of its biggest updates in history.

As part of the latest Power On newsletter from Apple analyst Mark Gurman, it's reported that the Apple Watch Series 7 will have "a flatter display and edges" compared to all previous Apple Watch models that have come out before it. Flat edges have since been brought to devices like the iPhone, iPad, and iMac, meaning the Apple Watch will soon have a matching aesthetic. This is something that was initially rumored back in May, though with this latest update from Gurman, it's all but confirmed to be the real deal.

Another rumor Gurman confirms is the presence of larger displays. As it currently stands, the Apple Watch is available in 40 and 44m case sizes — an increase from the original 38 and 42mm cases that were used up through the Series 3. For Apple Watch Series 7, Apple will now sell it in 41 and 45mm styles. While that's not a substantial change on paper, it should still allow for more screen real estate than previously seen on an Apple wearable.

Outside of that, all of the usual upgrades are still on the table for the Apple Watch Series 7. It's expected to have a faster processor, new color options, and the same health features found on the Series 6. This year's release is all about refreshing the design more than anything else — something Apple hasn't done since the Apple Watch Series 4.

Thankfully, it'll soon be time to stop chasing rumors and finally see the real deal. Apple's widely expected to announce the Series 7 (and its other gadgets) on September 14 — followed by pre-orders and regular sales later in the month. The Apple Watch Series 7 likely won't be a must-have upgrade for anyone with a Series 6, but for folks rocking a Series 5 or older, this year's Apple Watch should be worth the wait.
