Renders of the Apple Watch Series 7 have surfaced, providing a good look at the revamped design of the upcoming Apple wearable. While the Series 7 does still look like the Series 6 in more ways than one, a few notable design tweaks should give it a new, fresh aesthetic.

Although the Apple Watch is upgraded every year with faster performance, new features, and improved software, its design has remained mostly the same since the release of the first Apple Watch in 2015. The first redesign came in 2018 with the Apple Watch Series 4, which drastically increased the display sizes, reduced bezels, and introduced a new look for the sensors on the bottom. Apple has added new case colors and bands since then, but the core hardware has looked virtually identical for the past three years.

While the Apple Watch is still a good-looking piece of tech in 2021, it appears that Apple is ready to shake things up again with another redesign. Front Page Tech recently shared renders the Apple Watch Series 7, and simply put, they look fantastic. This leak doesn't reveal any potential specs or feature upgrades for the Series 7, but the new design alone could be enough to get a lot of users to upgrade.

Everything That's Changed With Apple Watch Series 7

Apple Watch Series 7 renders

The biggest difference with the Apple Watch Series 7 has to do with is its case. All previous Apple Watches have featured rounded edges, but according to these renders, Series 7 will make these edges flat for the very first time. It's a relatively small change in theory, but it makes the Apple Watch Series 7 look noticeably sleeker and sharper than the existing case design. It also ties in nicely with Apple's push towards flat edges with the iPhone 12, iPad Pro, and the M1 iMac.

Something else to take note of are the new colors. Apple is apparently experimenting with a few new color options for Apple Watch Series 7, one of which is a pastel green. This might be the flagship color that's sold alongside the traditional gray and silver options, but it's possible it'll be joined by blue and red colors, too. It's also worth noting that the colors represented in these renders line up with ones seen across other Apple devices, including AirPods Max, the new iMacs, and the rumored M2 MacBook Air. The last design change is seen with the speaker grille, which now features two cutouts on top of each other instead of being placed side-by-side. They're also noticeably longer than the Apple Watch's current speaker grille, suggesting that improved audio quality could be one of the Series 7's new features.

Assuming these renders are accurate, the Apple Watch Series 7 could be what many existing Apple Watch owners have been waiting for. It's still a familiar-looking device that people will be comfortable with, but there are enough tweaks here and there that make it distinctly different from previous models. Here's to hoping this is what the Series 7 actually looks like when it's announced late this year.
