Apple Watch is a popular option for buyers looking for a reliable smartwatch. Since its inception in 2015, the Apple Watch has been a dependable and standard way for people to connect their smartphones to a wearable device and track their fitness. In recent years, other companies have unveiled their own smartwatch designs to compete with the Apple Watch. Most recently, Amazfit launched its Zepp E smartwatch and here's how it compares to Apple's wrist-worn device.

Although the Zepp E is comparable to the Apple Watch Series 5 in many ways, it also has some key difference. Firstly, the Zepp E has a sleeker look than the Apple Watch. Although the Apple Watch clearly looks like a smartwatch, the Zepp E looks more like a traditional watch and could easily be worn to more formal events without appearing out of place. In addition, Amazfit's new smartwatch comes in two styles: the Zepp E Square and the Zepp E Circle, further adding a level of customization beyond changing the band.

Besides the look, the new Zepp E also has many technology-based differences, compared to the Apple Watch series 5. The new Zepp E is compatible with any Android phone running Android 5.0 at a minimum, as well as any iPhone running iOS 10.0 or higher. In contrast, the Apple Watch Series 5 is really only compatible with iOS devices running iOS 13 and above. Although it might be possible to connect an Apple Watch with an Android phone, the overall experience will be greatly impacted.

Apple Watch Or Zepp E? A Closer Look At The Differences

Zepp E sleep tracking

In terms of functionality, both the Zepp E and the Apple Watch Series 5 are compatible with a wide variety of workouts, including swimming, and can be used to track movements throughout the day. Not to mention both come with advanced health features too, including heart rate monitoring. In fact, the Zepp E also features an SpO2 sensor as well. They also both show notifications from connected phones. Both smartwatches are compatible with a variety of apps, but Zepp E uses custom software whereas the Apple Watch relies on familiar iOS apps. The new Zepp E boasts a battery life of up to seven days, depending on usage. In contrast, the Apple Watch Series 5's battery is only rated to last up to eighteen hours, meaning it will need to be charged each night. While the Apple Watch Series 5 connects via cellular, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, Zepp E is reliant on Bluetooth for its connections.

Another area that may prove to be a deciding factor is the price. For example, the Apple Watch Series 5 has a starting price of $399 and this compares to the $249 starting price of the new Zepp E smartwatch. Furthermore, that price is the same regardless of whether the buyer opts for the square or circle model. Then again, with rumors of a cheaper Apple Watch coming soon, the lower price of the new Zepp E smartwatch might not be that important for much longer.
