Servant has been a big hit for Apple TV+ since the first season debuted in 2020, making it one of the streaming service's best originals to date. Created by horror movie icon M. Night Shyamalan, the psychological thriller fits with the well-known director's typical style. It's creepy, weird, twisted, and engaging.

So it wasn't a surprise when Apple TV+ announced that it had renewed Servant for a second season, making it one of many Apple TV+ series that would be, or has already, come back for a season two. And while it seems like the story couldn't possibly continue after the bombshell events at the end of season one, they found a way to keep the story going and add new elements. While a lot in season two changed, plenty also remained the same.

Sean Burned His Hand…Badly

Sean held his hand over the gas stove, burning it badly while apparently not feeling a thing. Was he compelled to do this by Leanne? It's unclear how or why he decided to do this. Nonetheless, season two showed just how bad the damage was.

In one gruesome scene, Sean removed his bandages and it wasn't good. Oddly, he never went to the hospital nor was seemingly treating the hand with anything, which suggests that he still did not really feel the injury.

Sean Was Starting To Lose His Grip On Reality

While Sean was seemingly always the level-headed one, going along with his wife's delusions in the hopes that she would one day come back to her senses and accept reality, season two showed that things were getting to him, too.

After getting rid of the fake baby in a moment of anger and frustration, Sean ran and grabbed it out of the trash just before it was destroyed. He then gave the Jericho doll he saved a bath, as though it was a real baby.

Dorothy Was Still Completely Delusional

Dorothy, tragically, was still unable to accept that Jericho passed away. She either blocked out or repressed the memory of what actually happened, and those around her refused to reveal the truth to her, fearing that it would break her.

At some point, Dorothy would have to have realized the truth, either by someone confronting her about the delusion of the doll or through her openly accepting reality. Nonetheless, it was a huge reveal in season two that this hadn't happened yet.

Roscoe Lost Four Days

A perfect story for a psychological thriller like this show, Roscoe was hired by Sean and Julian to investigate Leanne's background. In season two, it was revealed that he had been missing for some time, waking up in his car where he was last parked, believing that he had been asleep the whole time.

The cult had done something to him and he could only remember tidbits of the time he lost once he was put under hypnosis. The fact that Roscoe was seemingly brainwashed was a huge reveal in season two.

What Happened To Leanne

The second season revealed a lot more about Leanne's life before meeting the Turners, including her emotionally and possibly physically abusive and mother's alcohol addiction, her obsession with Dorothy, who represented who she believed would be the perfect mother, and what she was up to after the events of season one.

Leanne had been assigned by the cult she was a part of to work for another family who apparently needed her help. It included a father, a terminally ill mother, and a series of children. And it was apparently close by.

Julian Slept With Leanne

Julian relented and slept with Leanne in an odd scene in which he went up to the attic to plead with her to help Dorothy get Jericho back.

While Leanne enjoyed the encounter, Julian broke down in tears, likely due to a number of deep emotional scars he still felt. One of these scars was not responding to Dorothy's calls to him to help her out the same week of the incident that led to Jericho's accidental death.

The Cult Members Could Seemingly Perform Miracles

Uncle George was a strange character and might have been delusional in some sense. But it also appeared that he could legitimately perform miracles and had some kind of supernatural abilities.

For example, he created some strange potion with a collection of common household ingredients, along with a healthy dose of saliva, that magically healed Sean's hands. Meanwhile, Leanne managed to resuscitate a dying Julian after an overdose by nothing more than a simple kiss.

Cult Members Were Assigned To Help Specific People

What was the point of the cult? While there's no question that it was formed predominantly around deep religious beliefs, the lost souls who joined apparently had good intentions to help people. The leaders assigned people to different families that they were supposedly destined to help.

The reason they were so angry with Leanne was that while she was still fulfilling the promise to help people in need, Dorothy and Sean were not her assigned family and did not fit the criteria. She diverted from her plan, which was a big no-no.

Sean Felt Guilty For Leaving Dorothy

One question that always loomed over the first season was why Sean would continue to keep up the ruse about the fake baby for so long, and then the ruse that Leanne's baby was actually Jericho. He and Julian wanted to give Dorothy time to heal and accept what actually happened, and also feared what she might do once she came to terms with the truth she had been repressing.

More clarity was brought to the situation when it was revealed that Sean took a job to be a judge on a cooking show in California at a time when Dorothy pleaded with him to stay because she was having a really tough time with Jericho. The guilt clearly consumed him after what happened.

Leanne Is Still Being Hunted

The end of the season showed Leanne bringing Jericho back to Dorothy and Sean and declaring they would be one happy family, feeling as though Dorothy was like a mother to her after she saved her life.

But she also knew that killing Aunt Josephine started a "war" and that members of the cult would not let her rest and would continue to come after her. It set the story up perfectly for a third season, which Apple TV+ has already confirmed.
