Apple TV+'s original series Loot is as much a parody of extreme wealth as it is a pointed show about women losing their independence and gaining it back in the face of adversity. While Molly is a billionaire who wants for nothing in her adult life, she appears to still treat people with respect.

With that said, she has also come to acquire some extravagances that others might consider to be over-the-top. While they might be common among the one percent, for the rest of society, they seem like too much and unnecessary. But to Molly, they’re simply luxuries to which she has become accustomed.

Her Candy Room

It’s the type of room every woman (and child!) dreams of: an entire room filled with candy to indulge when the need strikes. Molly’s is beautifully colored with candy organized neatly into matching glass dishes for easy access.

It’s a great room to enter when someone wants to drown their sorrows in sugar and chocolate. Indeed, this is exactly what Molly did just before receiving the call from Sofia that would likely change the trajectory of her life.

David Chang As Her Personal Chef

David Chang standing over Molly on Loot who is sitting and eating a meal.

In one scene, famous chef David Chang prepares an elaborate multi-course meal for Molly. She tastes the first dish and commends him on how wonderful it is. But then she tells him what she’s really craving is a bean and cheese burrito, to which he reluctantly says he’ll go microwave one for her.

Having a personal chef is one thing, but having a famous chef with restaurants of his own to run, along with TV shows like Ugly Delicious, one of the best documentaries about the farming and food industry, cooking daily meals seems like more than even Molly would need. Considering she seems quite happy with a simple microwave dish every now and then, it also seems wildly unnecessary.

The “Small” Pool For The Dogs

Molly and Nicholas walking along the small pool on her yacht in Loot.

Hilariously, when Nicholas tours Molly around her new yacht, he points out the “small” pool as if he’s almost embarrassed that such a “tiny” pool is part of the set-up. She seems excited, and quickly decides it would be great for the dogs.

The pool is, of course, a full-sized indoor pool complete with mirror on the ceiling to show its reflection, gorgeous blue water, and a lovely scene surrounding it. Most people would be excited for such a pool but to Molly, it’s something only good enough to be a play area for her pups.

The Yacht

The yacht itself is a major extravagance, although in Molly’s defense, it was gifted to her by her husband. He likely purchased it for her to keep her busy and unaware of what he was doing behind her back.

The yacht seems massive for even a large family. For Molly, John, and their two dogs, it would have been overkill. Now for just Molly and her dogs, it’s more space than she could ever dream of using on her own.

Gold-Rimmed Glasses

Molly's hand reaching for a gold-rimmed glass in her home on Loot.

In one scene when Molly decides to get herself together and cleans up the mess she made in the house, there are a few gold-rimmed glasses she picks up. While gold-rimmed glasses are not uncommon in fancy bar areas, chances are hers are made of real, expensive gold. It’s like something fans might see as a hidden detail in the Roy residences on Succession.

It’s a definite sign of wealth and opulence to own such glassware because it screams excess. Chances are whatever libations Molly was enjoying from the glasses was expensive whiskey, wine, or some other fancy drink.

A Gold Stapler

A close-up of Molly's new desk at her office showing a gold stapler and pens on Loot.

When Molly cleans and sets up her office at the charity, notably changing the name on the door from Molly Novak to Molly Wells, she sets out her working utensils. Among them is a gold pen set as well as a gold stapler.

Having an expensive, even personalized pen like a Mont Blanc is a sign of class and status. But it’s rare to see a gold stapler. Like the rims on the glasses, chances are the stapler itself was made of pure solid gold and probably worth more than the entire building she was in. It’s funny moments like these that make Loot a candidate for one of the most exciting movies and TV shows new to Apple TV+ in 2022.

Staff Who Brush Her Dogs’ Teeth

Two staff members brushing Molly's dogs in the bathroom of her home on Loot.

As Molly is getting ready for the morning to head to the office, she is brushing her teeth over her massive sinks. The camera pans to another set of sinks in another corner of the bathroom and she has two employees furiously brushing the dogs’ teeth as well.

It would make sense that someone with Molly’s billions would hire someone to care for her pets while she is away. But the scene of them getting their teeth brushed daily like she does seemed excessive.

Personal Hairstylists In Her Home

Two staff members removing a cape from Molly on Loot after receiving her morning hair cut and style.

Not only did Molly have employees tasked with brushing her dog’s teeth, but she also had personal hairstylists at her beck and call, complete with a hairstylist’s chair in her home. Each morning, they get her hair ready for the day, sweeping away the cape to present her with her new ‘do as if she were at an expensive salon.

For most people, this experience is something that only happens once every few months, or even once a month. And it usually requires an appointment and visit to a salon or calling someone into your home to do the job versus having people there 24/7.

Staff She Pays Without Work To Do

Molly's staff on Loot having a pool party while she's away.

Speaking of which, Molly had multiple staff at the home 24/7 to tend to her needs. This might have made sense when she was home. But now with her working, she continued to retain them. While this was an admirable thing since she had the money to do so, it also meant they were being paid for not having any work to do.

In one of the most hilarious scenes, as she tells them to do whatever and she’ll see them at 6:30 p.m., they all look at one another, then jump into the pool for a huge pool party. Chances are if Molly knew what they were up to, she wouldn’t mind one bit anyway. She was simply happy to have the company when she got home. The decision to make the most of the situation, however, would rank her butler among the best TV butlers.

A Chocolate Fountain On A Plane

A staff member on Molly's plane on Loot presenting her with a chocolate fountain for guests.

When Molly planned a team-building trip to Miami (though her real purpose was to attend a good friend’s perfume launch), she wanted everyone to feel welcome and at home on her plane. Among the many niceties she had ready for them was a chocolate fountain.

This is the type of thing that is seen at elaborate weddings or corporate events. On a personal plane for a short flight, it seemed too extravagant even for Molly. While it was a nice gesture, the team would likely have been happy with a bottle of wine and some sandwiches.
