While the heart of The Afterparty is former high school classmates getting together for a party to celebrate 15 years since graduation, people inevitably pair up with their favorite old friends. Or, in some cases, they might also interact most with their biggest rivals. It makes for entertaining scenes no matter who is pairing up.

Whatever the nature of the pairing, there are some memorable duos in the Apple TV+ original series. The top ranked duos are the stand-out characters from the show, beautifully riffing off one another and making every scene they are in together hilarious.

The Jennifers

Jennifer #1 and Jennifer #2 were inseparable, long-time best friends who not only remained close in the decade-and-a-half since graduation but even got pregnant at the same time. Both appearing at the party very visibly with child, they finished one another's sentences and didn't leave each other's sides (until one went missing, that is).

But they were also seemingly mean girls, judging everyone and talking behind people's backs. They came across as entitled and self-absorbed people who thought they were better than everyone else, though they are funny together.

Chelsea And Zoe

Zoe, Chelsea, and Brett as high school students in The Afterparty.

Chelsea is played by Ilana Glazer (who played one of the most likable characters on Broad City). She and Zoe no longer got along after the lie that led to Chelsea being ostracized in high school. The cheating scandal with Brett years later didn't help, ending Zoe's marriage. But the two women did have a heart-to-heart while stuck in Xavier's house.

It reminded both of them of what great friends they used to be. Zoe began to understand why Chelsea did the things she did while Chelsea was able to offer an in-person apology. Even if they did not reignite their one-time friendship, they had a moment that helped give them both emotional closure.

Walt And Himself

Jamie Demetriou as Walt in The Afterparty.

Sadly, despite Walt's best efforts to pair up with someone for a little reunion fun, no one paid him any mind, just as they had failed to do in high school. He was ignored, made fun of, and looked upon like they didn't even know who he was.

Walt came across as awkward and strange, which was off-putting to some, such as when Chelsea believed him to be a stalker when he was following her to return a set of dropped car keys. In the end, however, Walt's internal monologue that he often spoke aloud, such as in flashbacks from his epic high school St. Patrick's Day party, makes him qualify as a duo with himself.

Xavier And Yasper

Xavier and Yasper in The Afterparty, standing at the bar together.

Xavier and Yasper – played by Ben Schwartz, who has had some great roles through his career - were once best friends. They were even in a musical group together in high school until Yasper decided that they were moving in different directions. Ironically, Xavier is the one who became a huge star, leaving Yasper desperate to reconnect with his old friend and create a track together.

While Yasper was purely being opportunistic in coming to the party in hopes of finally realizing his musical dreams, their friendship and bond was once a great one, making them a hilarious high school duo.

Brett And Xavier

Brett and Xavier weren't friends, but their scenes together were among the funniest on the show. One of the stand-out ones was their public bathroom urination competition, a clear parody of the male ego and men competing for every little thing.

Xavier's blatant attempts to make Brett jealous were also hilarious, especially when he insulted Brett only to have his daughter Maggie declare her love for the famous actor and singer. The on-screen chemistry between the two made their scenes all the better.

Brett And Maggie

Brett from The Afterparty driving the car, Maggie smiling in the backseat.

Brett and Maggie were the sweetest couple on the show. The father-and-daughter duo found themselves in difficult situation after difficult situation. When Brett ended up having to take care of Maggie who unexpectedly showed up with the sitter at their high school reunion, he did his best to shield her from foul language.

But the best pairing between the two was the high-speed car chase scene and Brett's heroic attempts to get Maggie's favorite stuffed animal back after Aniq accidentally left the party with it in his pocket.

Detective Danner And Detective Culp

John Early as Det. Culp in The Afterparty.

A great buddy cop duo like those found in buddy cop comedies, Danner was determined to investigate the case while Culp wanted to follow orders and stand back until the detective who was assigned the high-profile case arrived. The dynamic was interesting in that it was tough to tell who was the rational one.

Culp sometimes showed himself to be a skilled cop, while at other times, he seemed more fascinated with the fact that he could look around a celebrity's home. It was sometimes like a brother-sister, sometimes like a mother-son relationship between the two as Danner would constantly act annoyed by Culp while he seemed frustrated by being bossed around.

Aniq And Zoe

Aniq and Zoe as animated characters in The Afterparty.

Aniq and Zoe clearly have feelings for one another and go together so well. When they reunited at the party, it was like no time at all had passed and they were simply enjoying one another's company as if they were teenagers.

There's a sense of ease between the two when they have conversations and there's mutual respect. Aniq, always a gentleman, made fans root for him, hoping that Zoe might reciprocate feelings. They are a great duo as friends, but fans are hoping it turns romantic.

Yasper And Aniq

Fans wonder why best friends Yasper and Aniq – two of the best characters from The Afterparty - lost touch after high school because they gel so well together. Most of the funniest scenes in the show involve these two getting up to hijinks, whether it's plotting to leave a phone recording in the room to capture the audio of Detective Danner's interviews or hiding out in a bathroom trying to piece together a ripped note with bandages.

Together, they were running their own background investigation, riffing off one another beautifully, and showing how they bring out the best in one another. In all his silliness, Yasper was also trying to help Aniq express his feelings to Zoe, proving what a good friend he was.
