Apple is reportedly planning to launch the third-generation iPhone SE in March or April of this year. Apple launched the first-gen iPhone SE in 2016 before discontinuing its affordable iPhone line for the next few years. The second-gen device was only launched in 2020 before skipping an upgrade last year. Apple has been widely expected to unveil its 3rd-gen iPhone SE this year, and if the latest report is anything to go by, it will happen in the next few months.

A slew of rumors over the past few weeks have seemingly revealed quite a few details about the iPhone SE 3 or iPhone SE (2022). Per the rumors, the device is unlikely to see a significant design change this year, which means it will still feature a 4.7-inch screen and a Home button with a built-in fingerprint scanner like its predecessor. However, it is also rumored to ship with new-age features, such as 5G connectivity and the brand new A15 Bionic processor, which is the same one used in the iPhone 13 lineup.

The latest report about the iPhone SE 3 comes from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In the newest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman claimed that Apple would likely hold a virtual event in March or April to announce its next-gen iPhone SE. The launch will come almost exactly two years after the announcement of the 2nd-gen iPhone SE, which debuted in April 2020. However, Gurman didn't say if Apple is planning to announce any other product at the event, so it remains to be seen what the company would have in store for the media on that day.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time reports have surfaced about a possible Spring 2022 launch for the iPhone SE 3. Last month, a report from China claimed that trial production of the device would begin soon, while a formal launch is slated for Q1, 2022. In addition, other news has seemingly revealed details about the phone's hardware specs. Apart from the A15 Bionic SoC and the 4.7-inch screen, other rumored hardware specs include 3GB of RAM and an external X60M 5G baseband chip. On the imaging side of things, the device is rumored to sport a single 12-megapixel camera at the back.

Interestingly, Gurman says that the spring event will see the announcement of "at least" the iPhone SE, which suggests that more products are slated to be announced that day. In addition, Apple is said to be working on a smaller Mac Pro and an updated Mac Mini, so it remains to be seen if they will make an appearance at the upcoming event. However, in the absence of any official confirmation from Apple, everything is in the realms of speculation right now.
